Lighting the Way Stamp Set is one that I use all the time for the amazing foliage images … I have paired it with the Paper Florist Dies and Thoughtful Expressions Dies for Colour Inkspiration Challenge #160.

Welcome to my blog. Today’s post is for Colour INKspirations Colour Challenge #160. Our inspiration pic for this challenge was chosen by design team member, Vicki Boucher. How pretty is this delicate colour combination? Fiona Rozario is our guest designer for this challenge.

CI#160 will run for FOUR weeks and will end at 7 pm (AEDT) on Monday March 11th.

Lighting The Way Stamp Set …

The Lighting the Way Stamp Set includes not only some adorable little fireflies, but the foliage from this set is AMAZING! It is so delicate and elegant, I find myself reaching for it every time I want some foliage images. Today I have combined it with the the Paper Florist Dies and Thoughtful Expressions Dies for my project for the Colour Inkspiration Colour Challenge #160.

Lighting the Way Stamp Set

This card takes me back to my early cardmaking days … I probably wouldn’t have made my own flowers back then, but we didn’t really have all the fabulous patterned paper that we do today, so most of our backgrounds were hand stamped.

Step 1. I die cut the two basic white panels with the Thoughtful Expressions dies, and using the circular images from Light the Way stamp set to represent flowers, I stamped a background with Balmy Blue and Bubble Bath ink. I added stamped foliage using Soft Seafoam ink and some of the cute little fireflies in Highland Heather ink. I did edge the panels with a Balmy Blue Stampin’ Write Marker.

Step 2. The fine blue edge wasn’t quite enough to differentiate the two panels so I added a Vellum layer in between using the same die shape in the inbetween size.

Step 3. For the background, I stamped some more of that fabulous foliage from Lighting the Way stamp set with Soft Seafoam ink on a Soft Seafoam panel. I added some “splatter” from Notes of Nature Stamp Set, also in Soft Seafoam ink, and then added some real splatter with Wink of Stella Glitter brush over the top.

Step 4. I tore the left hand edge of the Soft Seafoam panel and then added a small strip of torn Balmy Blue card stock behind before adhering to the Bubble Bath folded card front.

Step 5. The flowers are created from Paper Florist Dies, die cut from Basic White card and coloured with ink blending brushes and Highland Heather, Bubble Bath and Balmy Blue inks. The flower centres are the only Lemon Lolly colour on the card, and they are from the Rainbow Adhesive Backed Dots (Lighter Than Air suite from the Jan/April Mini catalogue).

Step 6. The Basic White leaves behind the flowers are dies from the Thoughtful Expressions dies.

Step 7. And finally, I added a 3D firefly, die cut from the Lighting the Way dies and given a shimmer using Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
