Oh So Eclectic for Global Design Project Challenge #186

Oh So Eclectic Feature Image

Oh So Eclectic stamp set and the Eclectic Layers Dies are on the dreaded retiring list! It has been a firm friend of mine since it has been on my shelves. Sadly, it hasn’t been used as often lately … so I am dusting it off and celebrating everything eclectic while I can.

Welcome to my blog today … I am participating (very last minute) in the Global Design Project Sketch Challenge #186. I did actually create these cards last week, but only just getting a chance to pop up on the blog now. Here is the sketch we are following:-

Global Design Project Challenge #186

And here is my project.

How this card started out …

I started out working on a #simplestamping project for this card. Stamps, inks and paper (with just a touch of twine). I liked it … a lot!

Originally it didn’t have the splatter, but I really felt it needed something and so with trepidation, I mixed up some Frost White Shimmer Paint, the tiniest drop of Highland Heather re-inker and a little spritz of water. I covered over the image and greeting with some scrap paper …. and went for it. Love!!!

Stepping it up a notch …

I was going to create this project in my weekly creative live, so I wanted to step it up a little to keep my avid crafter viewers interested and it was the perfect opportunity to utilise the sketch challenge from Global Design Project.

I popped the floral feature onto a die cut from the Stitched Shapes dies and splattered some more of that delicious Highland Heather shimmery liquid about the place (before I adhered the floral feature this time! 🙂

I did have some leaves cut out of the Delightfully Detailed Lasercut sheets to add to this card and I also had lots of the shimmery liquid left, so I painted up the leaves with it. Perfect … and colour co-ordinated.

Don’t you love that feeling when a card just comes together, no fuss, no angst of decision making …. just BOOM! And there it is!! Oh So Eclectic is one of those stamp sets that has given me a great result every time I use it. I will miss this set.

Here are the two cards side by side.

Apologies for the photos. I took these late at night and the lack of natural light is very noticeable! 🙁
