Here is a sneak peek of my tutorial project this month. I have used the Timeless Tulip stamp set and punch bundle to create a card suited for the casual crafter.
We are kicking off the release of the January Tutorial Bundle with a blog hop to showcase each of the designers. Be sure to visit everyone’s blog for a little taste of the quality and variety in this tutorial bundle.
Breathtaking Bouquet Background Stamp
For my Blog Hop project today, I am breaking with my normal routine and instead of using the Timeless Tulips bundle again, I have elected to use another stamp set from the new 2020 Mini Catalogue (did I mention it is out TODAY). So of course, the projects shown here today are different to that in the Tutorial Bundle. The projects in the bundle are exclusive to the tutorial and you won’t see them anywhere else.
I love this stamp set. It is large and can be a little daunting when you first look at it, so today I am showcasing cards created for the Beginner, Casual and Avid Crafter. The first card below is simply using Stamps, Ink and Paper, and so is very suitable for the Beginner crafter.
Breathtaking Bouquet Simple Stamping Card
All you need is the Breathtaking Bouquet stamp, Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather Ink Pads, Whisper White and Gorgeous Grape cardstock and a Blender Pen to create this card. You will also need a greeting stamp if you want to add a sentiment, because the Breathtaking Bouquet stamp set is just one large stamp, no greetings. The background image has been stamped on Whisper White Card with Gorgeous Grape ink. I used my Stamparatus (use a little bit of temporary glue to hold the card in place, because there is nowhere to put your magnet when stamping these large images).
Up close is always scary, but here you can see how I have used quick, short strokes with the Blender Pen and both Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather inks to colour selected flowers.
Breaktaking Bouquet Casual Card
My casual card involves heat embossing the large floral image. The Stamparatus is your best friend here … affix the piece of cardstock in the stamparatus with repositionable glue or adhesive, stamp it with Gorgeous Grape ink, leave everything in place, clean off the stamp on the plate and then use Versamark ink to stamp right over the top of the first image. Now go ahead and heat emboss the image with clear embossing powder.
Colour is applied by sponging all over the piece with the lighter Highland Heather ink and then adding some extra colour to the larger flowers with Gorgeous Grape sponging. This is a super quick, super easy way of adding colour to large images, and the embossing resists the ink and so the background outlines are not muddied or softened … the lines stay nice and crisp and vibrant.
Breathtaking Bouquet for the Avid Crafter
Now let’s step it up a little and introduce more shades of purple, Blackberry Bliss and Purple Posy.
This card again involves the same method of heat embossing the Breathtaking Bouquet image. Stamped in Gorgeous Grape and clear embossed over the top, again keeps those outlines strong and crisp. This time the image is coloured with Stampin’ Blends … Purple Posy, Highland Heather, and a touch of Blackberry Bliss.
And one more “shield your eyes” close up …. eeek!! Gives you an idea that you don’t have to be an expert colourist …. I mean who is going to look at your card in this sort of close up detail? **Big Sheepish Grin**
