Tied Up … with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch

Hello all … Dianne here. Thank you Cheryll for asking me to be a guest designer this month. I am honoured to take part in the Sense of Whimsy blog.

As Cheryll mentioned, I have seen crafts come and go over this time and yes, I have tried my hand at many. For instance, does anyone remember the Hobbytex craze? Paint in a tube – quite revolutionary at that time. You could paint on anything. It was quite expensive back then. I saved up to buy everything in the range because I had to have it all … I guess some of you will relate! 🙂

For the last 10 years, my favourite crafts are scrapbooking, card making and all things paper craft and I now teach cardmaking and memory keeping. I have been using Stampin’ Up! products for a few years now and I believe they are some of the best quality products around.

Now after my nostalgic trip down memory lane, let’s move onto my first project featuring the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set (available in Wood Mount or Clear Mount).

Guest Designer Dianne Rippon

This card features one of the papers from the Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper pack and the Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine and has an interesting scalloped closure.

Pop of Paradise Opening the Card

Get out your best ruler to measure the card for punching the Scalloped Tag Topper tabs. These tabs form the closure element for the card … slip the Baker’s Twine through the slots and tie in a bow.

Pop of Paradise fully open

Once you untie the Baker’s Twine bow, the card opens up to reveal the same Thinking of You greeting stamped in Melon Mambo ink on the inside of the card, positioned carefully so it sits behind the scalloped tab. Plenty of room for a handwritten greeting, just remember to ensure that it doesn’t protrude from behind the top flap when the card is closed.

Close up of the heart greeting feature

The Thinking of You heart is stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder before being die cut with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits dies.

I unravelled some of the thick baker’s twine into many threads, and then wrapped them around the layer above and below the heart for a less bulky finish.

Pop of Paradise card and envelope

A pretty envelope completes the package.
