Stamping Sunday February 2023 – Whimsical Wings and Soaring Hearts

Flight & Airy DSP … one of my favourite Sale-A-Bration items for this year. I have been having so much fun using this paper, the birds and flowers are just gorgeous.

Stamping Sunday is a group of demonstrators from around the world who get together on the third Sunday of every month to share creativity. I am so thrilled to be included in this very talented group of stampers, so much inspiration! I want to thank them all for including me.

Our theme for this month of February is “Whimsical Wings and Soaring Hearts”. And we could interpret this theme in any way we wished.

I have been a little boring and stuck to birds for my winged theme. No hearts but I do LOVE the Flight and Airy Designer Series Paper, so maybe that counts.

Flight and Airy Designer Series Paper …

Have I mentioned yet that this paper is AMAZING!! If you love pretty things, you should really have it in your stash. But it is only available until end of February 2024 (or while stocks last) for free with a qualifying purchase. In Australia, this is AU$90, so if you need to stock up on basics like card and adhesives, it is the perfect time to get an order in and grab some of this lovely paper. I am prepping a 8 card tutorial featuring this paper and everyone who grabs a pack when shopping with me will receive this tutorial so you can hit the ground running with ideas for how to use. This card for my hop today is part of that tutorial.

Fussy cutting rules …

Flight and Airy DSP

The lovely bird and flower images can be fussy cut if you are that type of gal, but they can also be die cut in panels, and if you search through your dies, you will be sure to find some to suit the individual images. For this card, I did both … the cute little bird on his branch of gorgeous flowers has been die cut using a label die from Thoughtful Expressions Dies. I still did some fussy cutting of the fabulous watercolour blooms to create the bouquet of flowers behind.

The foliage has been stamped with my very favourite leafy images from Lighting The Way stamp set. They are sweeping and elegant and I have stamped them in Lost Lagoon ink to the front card panel before adhering the fussy cut blooms over the top. The splatter is from Notes of Nature stamp set, stamped off to give a lighter, more subtle effect in the background. Stamping over the fussy cut flowers sort of cements them into the design, rather than them just being “stuck on top”.

The sentiment is from Wonderful Thoughts bundle, as stamp set with co-ordinating dies to cut right around the sentiments. I use these often.

The embellishments are from the Tinsel Gems Three Pack. These little gems are so pretty. I have used the Fresh Freesia colour and they have a little bit of gold tinsel embedded in the little translucent globule of gorgeousness.

Isn’t this little bird just so cute? Love the relaxed watercolour look, and the colours are so pleasing.
