Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – Colour Crush

Natures Prints bundle and the New In Colors 2022-2024 featured in the new Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalogue are being introduced today for the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop.

Stamping Sunday Header

Welcome to my blog on this second Sunday of May 2022. Today I am hopping with the Stamping Sunday Second Sunday team. This hop is hosted by Sara Levin, the Artful Inker and this month we are looking at the brand new In Colors 2022-2024 from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalogue. Apologies for the spelling for all my Aussie friends … apparently the branded name for the In Colors is in USA and is required to be spelt without the “u” when referring specifically to the name. 🙂

But anyway, spelling aside … the new In Colors are out and they are very bright this time around. I am yet to establish a favourite … mind you, once you look at my projects, I think a clear preference can be seen!

Natures Prints Bundle

I have used the Natures Prints bundle for my projects today, a new bundle in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue from Stampin’ Up!®. I was particularly drawn to this bundle for the Maidenhair Fern image, and the fonts in the sentiments. The Natures Prints Bundle is part of the Sun Prints suite, check it out on pages 90 and 91 of the new catalogue … and then you will go “Oh, that is the one with the paper”. 🙂 And I haven’t even used the paper today.

Beginner card … stamping only.

Nature's Prints using Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky

“And exactly where is the Tahitian Tide colour used here?” I hear you ask!!! All of the foliage is stamped with Parakeet Party, however I used the Stamparatus for my stamping which meant I was able to stamp some of the fern images over the top of the Parakeet Party with Tahitian Tide. It creates a darker bright green ink colour. I also added some Tahitian Tide ink to the ink blending in the corner which adds some darker shadows to that area.

The matting layer is Starry Sky, as is the sentiment. For the Parakeet Party base card, I repeat stamped one of the foliage images with Parakeet Party ink just around the edges to create texture.

The little metallic green pearls? They are the Silver Metallic Pearls coloured up with Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends. The Silver Metallic Pearls retired now sadly, however you could get a similar effect with the Brushed Metallic Dots, or just use the 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots in Parakeet Party … not metallic but they would be amazing.

Casual Card using Fern 3D Embossing Folder

To create texture in this card, I used the Fern 3D Embossing Folder on a Basic white layer. I brushed some Parakeet Party ink over the left hand side of card, leaving a white strip down the right hand side. Then I brushed over the top with Tahitian Tide ink. I LOVE the colour this creates … It is not blue any more, but you can definitely see the blue in it. It’s a whole new green that is AMAZING … let’s call it Tahitian Parakeet!!!

I have included Sweet Sorbet into this mix by stamping the small floral image in Starry Sky and using my Blending Brush to pick up a small amount of ink and stroking the colour onto the flower. And there is a die to cut out this small flower … bonus. I also die cut the wreath of leaves from the Natural Print dies and then cut the wreath up to get loads of smaller floral die cuts (thanks Sharryn for this great tip).

Sentiment in Starry Sky ink is die cut with the label die from the Natural Prints Die Set. What an interesting shape!!

Again the adhesive dots are the retired Metallic Dots in silver, coloured up with Sweet Sorbet dark ink Stampin’ Blend.

Avid Card with Nature’s Prints bundle …

This card takes a little bit more work to create. I used the Basic Borders Dies to cut strips from Starry Sky, Orchid Oasis, Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party. The far left side strip needs to have a straight edge.

I stamped each strip with various stamps from the Nature’s Prints set and the same coloured ink, mostly stamped off, to create some subtle texture on the die cut strips.

I stamped the texture stamp (2nd generation stamping)d in Orchid Oasis ink to the bottom right of the Basic White cardstock Then I adhered these strips in place across the card strip. Note that they will need to be trimmed if you have die cut the entire base of the border die.

  • Oh Cheryll, I just LOVE every one of these cards!!! The subtle combination of the two colors on your beginner card is gorgeous! And, I love the blending on your casual card. But that avid card! What a brilliant idea to create the background with the Basic Border Dies!!! Simply stunning!!!
