Welcome to my blog. Today’s post is for Colour INKspirations Colour Challenge #165. Our inspiration pic for this challenge was chosen by design team member, Jan Clothier. How pretty is this image? For #CI165 we welcoming two of the new 2024-2026 In Colours: Peach Pie and Shy Shamrock, along with old favourite, Petal Pink.

CI#165 will run for almost TWO weeks and will end at 7 pm (AEDT) on Monday May 20th (oooh that is five days away, I am running a little bit late posting my card this time around).

Simply Zinnias for a simple fun fold …

The image is actually of gorgeous Dahlias, but I immediately thought of the online product “Simply Zinnia Bundle
“. I also used a fun fold inspired by a recent sketch challenge.

I featured the lovely new In Colour, Shy Shamrock, for the background sections of the card, and used Petal Pink and Peach Pie for the Zinnias. There are a few different elements to this card. Let’s look at the fold first ….

Simple fold. Cut Shy Shamrock card 24 cm x 14.8cm, and score at 5.5cm on one long edge and 8cm on the other long edge. Once folded, the smaller flap folds over the larger flap to the front of the card.

This is the smaller front flap open.

And this is the card fully open. Loads of space to add your sentiment or words to the inside.

Now lets look at the Zinnias. I stamped two single flowers in Peach Pie on white card and then coloured them with Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends to the petals and some Peach Pie Stampin’ Blends to the centres. The leaves have been stamped with Shy Shamrock ink and coloured with Shy Shamrock Stampin’ Blends. They have co-ordinating dies in the Simply Zinnia die set to make cutting out a breeze. Once I had finished colouring the Zinnias I thought the centres had lost some zing, so I added some White Craft Ink to the very centre (I just picked the ink up with a Blending Brush I keep to use with white ink and dabbed it on). Then I added some White Pearlised Enamel Effects to the filaments (they take a while to dry so I actually did this at the very last).

Assembling the “bits” – I cut a stitched circle from Petal Pink cardstock using the Stylish Shapes Dies (so glad these are in the new catalogue) to layer all my pieces onto. I added some fussy cut leaves from one of the sheets from the 2024-2026 In Colour DSP 6″ x 6″ Paper Pack (in Shy Shamrock). The leafy floral design is so lovely. I also die cut some of the small leaves from the Simply Zinnia dies using white card and cut them into pieces. The looped ribbon is Peach Pie Bordered Ribbon and I have added a Basic White Baker’s Twine blow as well.

All the “other stuff”:-
I added some white layers to break up all the Shy Shamrock. The three strips on the small front flap are from the 2024-2026 In Colour Designer Series Paper Pack, another great design.
The other flap has had a embossed layer added to it. This embossing folder is one of the “Fun Patterns” set of 2 embossing folders. This one is also an Online Exclusive so you may have missed it. I love the geometric shape and it is such a finely detailed design. I embossed white card and then added some Shy Shamrock ink to it with a Blending Brush.

The sentiment is from the Simply Zinnia stamp set and has been white heat embossed onto Shy Shamrock card and then fussy cut close to the words.

I did add some of the 2024-2026 In Colour Shimmer Gems in Shy Shamrock. These are absolutely adorable. Add a couple of packs of these to your shopping cart as they will get used up quickly.

Inside Detail. Just looking at the inside again, I did use the 2″ Circle Punch to punch out a part circle, mainly just to show that the flap should lift up. Because it is three layers, I punched the Shy Shamrock and Basic White card together, but I cut the embossed layer after I had adhered it, otherwise I felt it was just too thick for my punch (and wrist) to handle.

I did back the Petal Pink circle with a Shy Shamrock stitched circle in the same size for aesthetics.
