Snowfall Accents Puff Paint and other ideas for how to create snow in your projects … or not, in my case!
Welcome to my blog on this second

Snowfall Accents Puff Paint
So this is a little tube of liquid “stuff” that is applied to a project and then heated with a heat tool until it puffs up! Whoah!! and you thought heat embossing was fun to watch!! This will blow your mind!
Beginner, Casual and Avid Crafters
For this hop, Jodie has created cards suited to all levels of crafter.
A beginner crafter is someone who is new to stamping, who has very limited tools and wants to create something using just stamps, paper and ink.
A casual crafter has learned the basics of stamping and has acquired some tools. She crafts on average once or twice a month, usually for a purpose such as an upcoming celebration and prefers to use punches over die cuts as she hasn’t invested in a die cutting machine yet. She likes to create both simple projects and projects with a little more technique.
An avid crafter has many tools, including a die cutting machine, and likes to use them all. She knows a variety of stamping techniques and is always wanting to learn more. She crafts often and likes to create a variety of either Beginner, Casual or Avid projects.
Which type of crafter are you?
Beginner Project – Dino Days
Dino Days is a popular set and perfect for Beginner Crafters. The dinosaurs are easy to stamp up and the greetings are adorable. Jodie has added some dirt “ground” under the dinosaur by simply applying the puff paint across the area and heating. When cooled she used the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend and gently coloured all over the puff paint. How clever is this? You could choose green instead if you want a grass patch instead of dirt.
And here is another Beginner Project using the Dino Days stamp set. For this one, the clouds have been stamped in balmy blue (stamped off twice) around the dinosaur image. Then the puff paint has been applied to the clouds. You will notice that stamping first gives you a guide of where to put the paint and gives the clouds a blue hue as the ink mixes with the wet puff paint.
Casual Project – Above the Clouds
More clouds, this time using the Above the Clouds Stamp Set and Hot Air Balloon punch. Again the clouds are stamped with Balmy Blue (stamped off) and then covered with Puff Paint and heated. Here you can really see how the liquid puff paint picks up the ink from the stamped images, giving the clouds a slightly blue hue.
Avid Project – Dino Days
Jodie has used Dino Days again for her Avid Card. She die cut the egg shape first, then applied an even layer of puff paint all the way out to the edges as close as she could ensuring not to let it go off the edge. Then she used the heat tool and “watched the magic happen”. As Jodie says, “You can’t help but get excited and be in awe as it puffs”.
That little dinosaur hatching out of his egg has been coated with the Shimmery Crystal Effects (another new product from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue). The little pebbles under the egg are a lovely effect, created from one of the dies from the Dino Dies set. This is such an interesting set of dies.
The dinosaur “hatches” out of his egg, and if you have two dinosaurs, this is a great card for twins.
Alternative Avid Project using Sip Sip Hooray …
Another use for “non snow” puff paint … the froth and bubble of champagne.
Jodie has created a fabulous tag using the Sip Sip Hooray bundle. She attached an extra piece of card from behind the top of the glass so she could put the puff paint across the top and the some dripping down the side. This is such a great idea and could be used for beer, pink champagne, spiders, even frothy coffee!!
A very big thank you to Jodie for stepping in for me this month. I am sure you agree, she has done a fabulous job!
I am really looking forward to seeing what the rest of the design team members come up with this month. Here is the full list of hop participants … visit them all and be inspired.
