Stamping Sunday May 2024 – Something Old, Something New

Rest Relax Enjoy Stamp Set is a photopolymer Stamp Set in the 2024-2025 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. It is tucked away towards the back and you may have missed it. I used this “Something New” stamp set to create my “Something Old” … making vintage bottles.

Stamping Sunday is a group of demonstrators from around the world who get together on the third Sunday of every month to share creativity. I am so thrilled to be included in this very talented group of stampers, so much inspiration! I want to thank them all for including me.

For the month of May, the Stamping Sunday designers have been challenged to create “Something Old, Something New” … now I have mucked up a little bit here. I did have a blog post created to showcase this project using the Rest Relax Enjoy stamp set, and I accidentally deleted the entire thing. So I am popping the photos up here, and hopefully can make the link work so that the blog hop list isn’t interrupted.

I purchased this stamp set “Rest Relax Enjoy” in my last order and when I received it, I asked myself “what am I going to do with this”. So my personal challenge was to use it as my “Something New” .. a new and unused stamp set … for this challenge. Then what to use as “Something Old”?? …. let’s turn these bottles into old, vintage apothecary bottles? Challenge accepted!!

Rest Relax Enjoy

This really was a labour of love …. lots of steps, and lots of different products.

  • The bottles have been stamped with Memento Back Ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blends, then I covered them with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. The vintage labels have been printed (free templates from internet), coloured with blends to age and then adhered to the bottles.
  • The “tray” has been created with the Spotlight on Nature dies (amazing set of detailed circles in different sizes), cut from Basic Beige and the copper colour from Textured Metallic Specialty Paper.
  • The background has been created with papers from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper, stamped with great collage image from the retired Notes of Nature stamp set.
  • I pleated the Basic Beige ribbon and adhered across the card … **tip … cut a strip of cardstock in the same colour and width of the ribbon, apply some double sided tape and adhere the ribbon to cardstock with glue dots as you pleat it. Then it is easy to adhere the cardstock with the ribbon already on it to the card front.

The foliage pieces in the background are cut from the Thoughtful Wishes Dies, using more of the Country Woods Designer Series Paper. Those very adorable adhesive embellishments are the Adhesive Backed Swirl Dots.

I would love to hear what you think!
