Honeybee Home for Colour INKspiration #129

Honeybee Home for Colour INKspiration #129

Honeybee Home is a gorgeous stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. It is bundled with the Honeybee Bloom Dies. I have used them both today to create a floral project for Colour INKspiration Challenge #129.

Welcome to my blog. Today’s post is for Colour INKspirations Colour Challenge #129. The inspiration graphic for this challenge was chosen by CI Design Team Member, Monica Formosa. These colours say “corporpate” to me, but the inspiration pic shows that they can also be funky and fun.

We welcome Rebecca Nutley as our Guest Designer for this challenge.

It is very easy to enter the Colour INKspiration Challenge. You don’t need a blog, you can simply post your card image in the facebook group. This challenge finishes on Monday 26th September at 7:00pm AEST.
Our CI#129 challenge features Mango Melody, Starry Sky, Basic Gray and Silver. The challenge parameters are to use all four of the challenge colours (or if you don’t have the exact colour, you can substitute a close alternative), and in addition you can use neutrals such as Basic White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and Basic Black.

Check out how you can join in the challenge at the end of this post or on the facebook page here.
And if you need inspiration, the designer’s album for this challenge is absolutely fantastic. Click on the Media tab and then “Albums”, or go straight to the album here.

Honeybee Home Bundle …

Honeybee Home CI129

I had created another Honeybee Home project here in a pastel colourway, so using these more intense colours with this stamp set was interesting and different.

Design Tips:-

  • I have created a standard folded card in Basic Gray cardstock, and added a layer of Designer Series Paper in Starry Sky.
  • The floral stamps from Honeybee Home stamp set have been stamped with Black Memento ink on Basic White card and coloured with Mango Melody and Basic Gray Stampin’ Blends. They have been die cut with the co-ordinating dies from the Honeybee Blooms dies.
  • I layered the flowers onto a Basic Gray Hexagon Die Cut from Beautiful Life Dies.
  • The strip of Vellum behind the floral piece has been stamped with the row of flowers from Honeybee Home stamp set using Stazon ink. Because Stampin’ Blends and Stazon ink don’t go together, I have coloured the flowers on the back side of the Vellum using Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends.

  • My silver element in this card is the Metallic Mesh Ribbon … the floral vellum strip has been adhered over the silver mesh with Glue Dots. Because the glue dots will show through the vellum, I made sure they were applied behind where the hexagon would sit and in the centres of the flowers (knowing that I was going to add adhesive embellishments to the flower centres which would disguise the glue dots. Because the mesh is so open weave, these glue dots also hold it in place on the card front.
  • The sentiment has been stamped with black ink onto Basic White card and fussy cut in two parts before being coloured around the edges with Mango Melody ink and a sponge dauber.
  • I am still trying to perfect those multi ribbon bows, this time using a narrower length of the Metallic Mesh Ribbon cut long ways from the full width strip, some White Crinkle Cut seam binding coloured up with Starry Sky Stampin’ Blend and some Gray Granite twine.
  • Final touch is to add Basic Rhinestone Jewels for a silvery shimmery sparkle.
