Here I am again, sneaking in with a last minute entry to the Global Design Project challenge. It is a colour challenge this time … a very modern and fresh colour combination.
And here is my card …
I needed a card for one of my awesome team members who was especially busy last month, so I used the challenge to come up with this creation for her. I reached for one of my favourite graphic images from the “I Think You’re Great” stamp set (Wood Mount or Clear Mount) to create the feature panels using an emboss resist technique. The panels are Daffodil Delight cardstock cut to size first, stamped with Versamark ink pad, embossed with clear embossing powder and then sponged with Basic Gray ink. A quick polish up with a tissue removes any grey ink from the embossed areas, revealing the original Daffodil Delight colour.
I love the slightly grungy effect the emboss resist technique gives where the darker ink colour picks up any areas where the embossing powder hasn’t taken. It reminds me of hand painted feature tiles. How cool would tiles like this look in the bathroom?
I used Smoky Slate cardstock as the card base, and partially stamped some of the Hardwood background stamp (Wood Mount or Clear Mount) with Smoky Slate ink to create some interest before layering my “tiles” onto a strip of Basic Gray cardstock. I sponged ink onto parts of the background stamp which gives random edges and a lighter stamping. I also took inspiration from a few of the designer’s projects this week and white embossed the greeting “Because You’re Awesome”. This greeting comes from the Sale-A-Bration set, Botanicals for You which is available during Sale-A-Bration for free with a $90 purchase. Sale-A-Bration finishes 31st March, so get your orders in before then to take advantage of any of the fantastic items available. Download a PDF of the Sale-A-Bration flyer here and the additional new Sale-A-Bration items here.

That’s another card ready to mail out and checked off my to do list … thanks Global Design Project! 🙂
