Translucent Florals Dies for Colour Inkspiration Challenge 171
![]()
Translucent Florals Dies have been used to create the trio of flowers on this project for Colour INKspiration Challenge 171. My favourite part of this design is the blended background piece, adding some rich depth behind the floral bouquet.

Welcome to our 171st challenge at Colour INKspiration! We welcome Jay Soriano as our Guest Designer. Our inspiration image for this challenge was chosen by Colour INKspiration Crew Member Vicky Boucher.
CI#171 will run for almost TWO weeks and will end at 7 pm (AEST/AEDT) on Monday 26 August, 2024.

Ink Blending and Die Cutting …
This card was a joy to create, and as I added more and more elements, the list of products used became numerous! My favourite part of the card is the blended background using Berry Burst, Blackberry Bliss and Summer Splash inks. Blackberry Bliss and Summer Splash are a little tricky to blend, but they make a gorgeous colour transition.
MATERIALS
Floral dies / A selection of foliage dies and stamps / White and Pink card stock / Dye Inks x 4 shades / Ink blending brushes / Embossing Folder / Glimmer Paper / Pearlised Enamel Effects / Small sentiment stamp and White embossing powder
*For a full list of supplies I used, click on the first image or scoot on down to the bottom of this blog post.*

instruction
Step 1 / Grab a panel of Basic White card stock the same size as your folded card front. My tip is to apply the Blackberry Bliss ink centrally across the panel with Ink Blending brush first (approx. a third). Then apply the Berry Burst ink to the top of white card, blending into the darker colour. Next up, apply Summer Splash to the bottom of white card, blending into the Blackberry Bliss. This is a tricky one to blend so work lightly, building up the colour gradually. Trim piece down and adhere to folded Pretty in Pink card front.
Step 2 / Emboss the strip of Pretty in Pink card with So Swirly embossing folder and add some shading down one side with same ink colour and ink blending brush. Adhere to card front.
Step 3 / Die Cut flowers from white card. Colour with Ink Blending brushes and Pretty in Pink, Berry Burst and Blackberry Bliss inks. Assemble flowers, cutting the flower centres from Pretty in Pink Glimmer Paper and Berry Burst Cardstock.
Step 4 / Stamp foliage with Summer Splash ink, add blending with Blackberry Bliss ink if desired. Die Cut. I had a practice sheet of the blended background on hand which didn’t quite make the final cut, so I used that to die cut most of the foliage pieces from the Changing Leaves Dies. The remaining die cut leaves are from the Painted Lavender die set, cut out of Summer Splash ink and then given a bit of a swish of Blackberry Bliss ink with blending brush to create a deeper tone. I cut them into smaller pieces before adding to the bouquet.
Step 5 / Apply little dots of Black Pearlised Enamel Effects to the die cut sprig pieces and set aside to dry well before adhering.
Step 6 / Stamp and heat emboss the sentiment with White Embossing Powder on Black card stock. Trim out close to words.
Step 7 / Assemble and adhere all elements on front of card using Liquid Glue or Mini Glue Dots.
