Watercolouring with Acrylic Blocks …

So I took the inspiration graphic quite literally …. I love the blocks of colour in this amazing photo, so I tried to create something similar.

Spotlight on Nature

What do you think? It is not quite the same, but I love how this turned out! It is so bright and happy. And I am betting that no two backgrounds would ever be the same, the method of watercolouring with Acrylic blocks is so random.

Step 1. Cut a Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper Panel 9.7cm x 14cm
Apply ink to a B sized block, spritz with water and place the block on the watercolour paper.
Create a grid of coloured blocks in Crushed Curry, Poppy Parade, Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape and Starry Sky. Watercolour the blocks of colour to spread the ink if necessary.

Step 2. Blend Crushed Curry ink and Coastal Cabana ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock with Blending Brushes.
Stamp Sentiment with Starry Sky ink.
Die Cut with circle die from Stylish Shapes.
Die cut with circle die from Spotlight on Nature from Coastal Cabana cardstock.
Layer two circles together.

Step 3.
Stamp Leaves from Spotlight on Nature Stamp Set with Starry Sky ink to top left and bottom right of card. Add cross hatching with Poppy Parade ink.
Blend centre of leaves with blending pen, just a few light strokes which will blend out the Starry Sky ink slightly into the colours in the background.
Layer Panel onto a matt 10cm x 14.3cm of Crushed Curry cardstock.

Step 4. To create the Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine, use White Baker’s Twine and dye it with Crushed Curry ink.  Apply Crushed Curry ink to a large block or craft mat.  Spritz with water and then put a length of Baker’s Twine into the puddle of ink.  Move around with a Take Your Pick tool or tweezers until the thread is yellow.  Remove excess ink from twine by patting well with Paper Towel.  Dry with a heat tool or set aside to dry thoroughly.
Wrap the thread around the layers twice and tie in a bow on the front.

Step 5. Adhere layers onto a Coastal Cabana Folded Card.
Adhere circular panel onto card front lower right over the twine with dimensionalss
Embellish Card with gems. (I used Purple Fine Shimmer Gems which has Gorgeous Grape as one of the colours).

**Note: Starry Sky ink is one of the retiring in colours … so if you don’t have that one, grab it now before it goes. It is a great blue.
