Hello and welcome to the August 2024 All Star Video Class Bundle Blog Hop.

This hop introduces you to the Video Class Bundle featuring the Mediterranean Blooms suite of products. Each month, 12 amazing designers prepare a video class featuring a different suite of products from the current Stampin’ Up! range, including a PDF with full supplies list and measurements in both Metric and Imperial. Here is a little sneak peek of my class project for our video bundle this month. That amazing die in the background almost looks 3d doesn’t it, but that is just a cool technique using ink.

The projects shown in our blog posts today are different to the video class projects (the class projects are exclusive and you won’t see them posted anywhere else).

Mediterranean Blooms Suite …

This is the Mediterranean Blooms suite of products … it is fabulous suite to add to your collection. The dies are amazing, the large stitched frame is one I have used with so many other sets and the matching foliage frame is stunning. Some of the images in the Designer Series paper can be cut out with the dies, or use the dies with the stamped images.

Citrus Blooms Bundle…

For my blog hop project today, I have used a couple of different techniques. I went a bit crazy with the background, so was very pleased to be able to create a stunning feature using the Designer Series Paper and stamps.

The fabulously talented All Star Video Class Bundle designers are each showcasing an alternative project to show the versatility of the products for this hop. So including the class bundle projects, that is a total of 24 project ideas using this suite … amazing!!

Let’s have a look at the background first. It’s sort of abstract and full of texture, and is another way to use the foliage dies in this die set. I started with a piece of Fluid 100 watercolour paper and gave it a watercolour wash of Garden Green, Daffodil Delight and Balmy Blue inks, blending all the colours together.

Once dried with my trusty heat tool, I then die cut the leafy foliage frame and also the central foliage piece from Basic White cardstock. Laying these two die cut pieces in place over the watercoloured background, I applied Embossing Paste with a palette knife. Once you start applying the paste, the die cut pieces stay in place pretty well, but because I am going to trim down the piece, you can tape the outside stencil in place if you wish. It’s not possible to tape the inside piece down, but honestly, it does seem to stay in place once it has some paste applied.

The paste has to be totally dry before moving onto the next step. You can dry with a heat tool but be careful not to overheat or the paste will start to bubble. I prefer to set my piece aside to dry naturally …. but can you be that patient? 🙂

Once dry, I brayered some Balmy Blue ink over the embossing paste. Some parts of the paste will grab the ink and other parts not so much … I love the patchy look, but it was a bit stark in places, so I gave it a little spritz with some water and then allowed to dry again.

Now while the background wasn’t time consuming in itself, the drying time made it seem like this was quite an involved process. So I decided to use the Designer Series Paper for my focal image, and love that the dies will cut out some of the images on the paper.

To give my images a little more “punch” … or should I say “juice” … I saw that the stamped image would also pretty much fit those same images in the Designer Series Paper. As this is a rubber stamp set and not see through like the photopolymer stamps, lining up the stamp over the corresponding image in the Designer Series Paper would be quite tricky …. unless you used your Stamp Positioning Tool. Which is what I did …. I use my Stamparatus (best tool ever) and a sheet of polypropylene plastic to position the image perfectly, but any stamp positioning tool should work. AMAZING!!! The outline really makes this image pop.

I added some layers (the Designer Series Paper layer has been coloured with a Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend), a sentiment from the Citrus Blooms stamp set (die cut with a die from the new Changing Leaves dies, an online exclusive product) and given a little ink blend with some Balmy Blue ink.

The delicious looking little embellishments are the Opal Rounds Assortment, which comes with this suite.
