By The Bay Suite …

Here is a little sneak peek of my class project for our video bundle this month. It’s a pearler! 😉 My video showcases a couple of different techniques using a) embossing folders and b) how to get more use out of your designer series paper.

The projects shown in our blog posts today are different to the video class projects (the class projects are exclusive and you won’t see them posted anywhere else).
Seaside Bay Bundle…
This is my alternate project using these products, and check out the blog hop links below for an additional 11 project ideas. The fabulously talented All Star Video Class Bundle designers are showcasing an alternative project to show the versatility of the products. So including the class bundle projects, that is a total of 24 project ideas using this suite … amazing!!
For my blog post project today, I have created a card featuring another embossing folder technique … and the cute little water bird from the By the Bay Designer Series Paper.

This card looks so much better in real life, mainly because of all the “touchy feely” texture in the background. It would make a great male card. The embossing folder technique used here is always going to look a bit grungy, no matter what colours you used I think. I will say that the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder is so amazingly textured!
The decorative elements were so easy … the By The Bay designer series paper offers so many different options without doing any stamping! Perfect when you have put a bit of time into a background and want to relax a little finishing off the project.
What I did …
For the background, I used Fluid 100 watercolour paper. I stamped the little sand and shells image from the Seaside Bay Stamp Set repeatedly onto the inside of the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder with Memento Black ink. Then I lightly spritzed the watercolour paper before placing it in the folder and running it through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine. This is the part sand and shell images you can see in the background. To be honest, I did think “hmmmm, this is not going to turn out well” at this point.

Never one to give up easily, I dried the watercolour paper with my heat tool and applied So Saffron and Crumb Cake ink all over the piece with blending brushes. I made the edges a little darker with the Crumb Cake ink. And now here comes the messy bit … I used my finger to pick up some Crumb Cake ink and rubbed it over the folder, accentuating the raised areas more distinctly. I repeated this process with Basic Gray ink.
The result is probably not to everyone’s taste, but I like the grungy, sandy and highly textured feel to the background. Perfect for adding a montage of watercoloured and die cut seaside grass, shells and that very cute water bird die cut from the designer series paper. The layers are from the Something Fancy Dies … the smaller panel has been watercoloured with Smoky Slate and the sand and shells image stamped across it with Crumb Cake ink. The larger matting panel has been ink blended with Basic Gray ink.
The sentiment is from the Seaside Bay stamp set and I have used the little Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls to resemble little pearly rocks on the beach.
Here is a sneak peek of the 12 projects for the video class bundle this month. How stunning is this?
