Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop

Welcome once again to Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop, travelling around the world through every time zone. You may be starting here or you may have come from the blog of the amazing Rochelle Laird-Smith.

Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop is the brainchild of Angie McKenzie, a wonderful friend and amazing paper artist. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to be a part of this varied and talented group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators.

Casing the new Jan-Jun 2022 Mini Catalogue …

This month, we are casing a selected project from the Stampin’ Up!® January to June 2022 Mini Catalogue. I LOVE casing the catalogue … it is quite relaxing to have a starting point, and then create something that is both the same and different to the original project.

Expressions of Friendship Host Set
Find this card on page 90 of the Annual Catalogue – using host set Expressions of Friendship.

This is the card I decided to case, tucked away in the back of the catalogue! It is a host set, available only with rewards points. Rewards points are earned with an order of at least AU$250 (in Australia). It’s a cute stamp set, but I really liked the background created with the shape dies from the Abstract Beauty suite of products on pages 48 and 49 of the mini catalogue.

Switching it up …

The brief was to choose a card to case, and then switch out the stamp set and colours. Here is my first case …..

Blessings of Home Bundle

Blessings of Home Bundle

I used the Blessings of Home Bundle from the Mini Catalogue for the image and sentiment. The stamp set provides the focal image, and the die set includes lots of lovely detailed foliage dies to use. I also featured the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper for the background, along with the co-ordinating colour, Garden Green, for the cardstock. The Stitched Rectangle Dies have been used to create the “shapes” background.

The Image is stamped with Memento Black ink onto Basic White cardstock and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I then coloured the background with Blending Brush and Balmy Blue and Daffodil Delight inks.

The sentiment from the stamp set is one of my favourites, and is white embossed onto Misty Moonlight cardstock. The adhesive rhinestones (which I just noticed, one has come off somewhere along the line while I was photographing) are the Iridescent Rhinestones coloured up with Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blend.

Friendly Hello Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set

Friendly Hello Bundle

I decided to do another card with a different bundle, this time using the Friendly Hello Stamp Set and Designer Series Paper Bundle – A Sale-A-Bration Free Item with an AU$180 order.

This is a VERY busy card, but I like the joyful “all in” feel of the finished project. If you are going to do “busy”, then go over the top busy and really own it.

You will notice that I have stayed with the green and blue theme, just shifted up the colours to suit the Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper. The background this time is Granny Apple Green, and I have used two different patterns in the paper, Granny Apply Green and Pool Party designs for the background shapes.

Friendly Hello Sale-A-Bration Bundle

I stamped the flowers and some of the leaves in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colouring the flowers with Pool Party and Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends. Ink Blending Brushes have been used to very lightly colour the background with Granny Apple Green and Pool Party Inks.

This time I used the Hippo and Friends Dies for the background shapes. This dies set has three different designs in a nesting style die. It does not, however, have any leaf dies, so I pulled out the perennial favourite for leaves, Forever Flourishing Dies … this one goes with the Forever Fern stamp set to die cut some leaves in Basic White and Basic Black cardstock.

The sentiment is from the other Sale-A-Bration stamp set available with an AU$180 order, the Special Moments stamp set. Of course you could use your favourite sentiment you already have on hand. I white embossed this lovely “thinking of you” sentiment onto Black cardstock. The die is from the Pretty Pillowbox Dies … I just found a stitched die that fit the sentiment. We are so lucky to have so many fabulous sentiment dies to choose from … I just flick through the dies listing in the catalogues to find one that fits whatever sentiment I choose to use.

Again, I used the Iridescent Rhinestones (I have honestly used these in just about every project I have created recently). I coloured them up with the Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blend. Don’t they look FABULOUS!! More like a navy, which goes wonderfully on the card … a mix of the black and blue. HAPPY DANCE!

Two very different cards … using the same inspiration …. which is your favourite??

Next up we are are going to take a little trip across the very large country of Australia, all the way over to Western Australia and Melissa Gifford’s blog.

Here is the full list of blog hop participants this month …. I wonder which card everyone has chosen to case, I am excited to check it out, are you?
