Stamping Sunday Header

Welcome to my blog on this second Sunday of January 2021, our first hop for the year with the Stamping Sunday Second Sunday team. This hop is hosted by Sara Levin, the Artful Inker. This month we are featuring our favourite Sale-A-Bration items. If you don’t know what the heck I am talking about, Sale-A-Bration is a two month promotion by Stampin’ Up!, where you can earn free goodies for every AU$90 or AU$180 sale.

Paper Blooms is one of the level one items, so that means it is FREE with purchase of AU$90. And I am totally loving the funky designs and contrasting colours of this 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper.

Beginner, Casual and Avid Crafters

For today’s hop, I am showcasing how products can be suitable for all levels of crafter. No matter which category you fall into, there is a project here for you. Something a little bit different this month though …. this is fussy cutting Beginner, Casual and Avid.

A beginner crafter is someone who is new to stamping, and will be looking to create with minimal supplies and minimal fussy cutting!

A casual crafter is someone who thinks that this papercrafting lark is pretty good and is keen to move beyond the basic supplies, maybe get a punch or two … and attempt some more challenging fussy cutting and layering, maybe start including embellishments.

An avid crafter is feeling the passion, knows that getting into the craft room is an inexpensive form of therapy, and is accumulating lots of “things”. She is also not afraid to fussy cut to the max … and work with fine matting layers!

PAPER BLOOMS BEGINNER CARD

Each of my cards features the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper and fussy cutting some of the funky flowers. They are incredibly easy to fussy cut because it doesn’t matter if you go a little astray with your fussy cutting! This pattern in the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper is my favourite.

I simply cut a layer to go on the front of my folded Seaside Spray card, stamped the sentiment (from Simply Succulents stamp set) onto Soft Seafoam card stock and punched it with the Timeless Label Punch. Can you see the die cut flowers? Just a little bit of fussy cutting for a beginner crafter card, adhering the small trio of flowers to the sentiment label and adhering it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The envelope liner is a nice touch, as is adding the additional fussy cut flower as a faux seal. Very easy to do, tracing the envelope flap shape onto the DSP with a pencil and then cutting by hand. Extend the Designer Series Paper inside the envelope a little way, but don’t glue that bit, only glue the bit on the inside flap, then the piece inside the envelope slides up and down as you close the envelope, avoiding puckering at the fold.

How about a little close up?

This one is just a little more … still suitable for a beginner crafter really with minimal supplies, but stepping up the fussy cutting to casual level, adding a few more layers and some ribbon!

The sentiment is again from the Simply Succulents stamp set, and again, fussing cutting is the technique of the day.

Paper Blooms Avid Crafter Card

My avid project only uses the same techniques, mostly fussy cutting and a little bit of layering, but the fussy cutting is just a little bit over the top. I have created my own custom floral panel by fussy cutting lots of flowers and then layering them up onto the rectangular panel to create my own floral design. Quite a bit more layering involved here too, with fine Night of Navy cardstock matting layers to break up all the floral patterns.

The Stamping Sunday Design Team…

I am really looking forward to seeing what the favourites of all the other team members are. Here is the full list of hop participants … visit them all and be inspired.
