Free as a Bird is one of the most popular stamp sets from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. It comes bundled with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies, which are a must have for your crafting arsenal.
Welcome to my blog … today I am participating in the Global Design Project #197 “Colour Challenge”.
I am featuring Free as a Bird Stamp Set this week, and Seaside Spray is the perfect colour for little bluebirds.

Stitched Nested Label Dies
I brought in Terracotta Tile for the flowers and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves. My stamparatus came in very handy for stamping the row of birds on the Whisper White Stitched Nested Label and also on the Vellum Stitched Nested Lable, in exactly the same spot so I could lay one over the other.
Once I had coloured both images, it created a vibrant image with a sort of 3d effect as the vellum sits up off the background ever so slightly. To make my little birds pop, I stamped them onto scrap Whisper White card and coloured with Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blends. Then I trimmed out just the bird bodies and adhered them over the birds stamped on the vellum.
The bird bodies also give me somewhere to hide the glue when adhering the vellum.

Pine Planks Embossing Folder
The sentiment has been heat embossed onto the vellum with Silver Embossing Powder.
The Seaside Spray layer has been embossed with the Pine Planks Embossing Folder. And the Silver Foil layer complements the silver embossing.

I created this card live on Facebook in my VIP customer group last week. The Global Design Project challenges always help me come up with projects for my lives and I particularly like the colour challenges.

Pop on over to the Global Design Project gallery page for more great samples of projects created using this colour scheme.

Using the vellum to create a 3D effect is really clever and popping up some birds to hide the dots even more so. It’s a lovely way to show off that super stamp.
Thank you Jan! And easy fussy cutting … my fussy cutting skills are nowhere near as good as yours!! xxx
