Beachy Little Christmas Shacks

Beachy Little Christmas Shacks

I should really live in the Northern Hemisphere.  I love traditional Christmas images and decorative elements… snowflakes, fireplaces, snow covered trees, holly and pine cones.

However, our Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere is smack bang in the middle of summer, so snow and fireplaces don’t really come into the equation. The Beachy Little Christmas stamp set from Stampin’ Up! is perfect for a Southern Hemisphere Christmas.

This delightful little stamp set comes in red rubber, both in Wood Mount and Clear Mount.

Our Stampin’ Up! team, Inks and Whimsy, is featuring this stamp set during October …. this is my first contribution to the sample gallery. My inspiration came from this card by the fabulous Jennifer Spiller. Click on the link to check out Jennifer’s card.

My card is a little bit different, but you can see Jennifer’s influence in some of the features.

Beachy Little Christmas Coloured Shacks

Aren’t these little beach huts adorable?  They don’t really resemble any “beach shack” I have ever visited here in Australia, but they sure are cute. I have coloured them with a blender pen and regular inks, and they are all “shacked” up for Christmas, complete with little enamel stars on the roof ridge.

The straight lined edges of the shacks make them super easy to fussy cut.

Sand and Sea

The beach and ocean are created by cutting scrap paper into curves and then sponging the colour on using the curved pieces as masks.  Jennifer used the faux ripped edge technique on gloss card for her project but I have used Whisper White card, and I cut my curved edges out of scrap paper rather than ripping the paper.

The more refined “huts” on this card are way more colour co-ordinated, with the only difference being the colour of the surfboards. Everything else is the same, including the sea shell patterned card layer in Pacific Point. These little shell images are included in the Beach Little Christmas stamp set, and I have repeat stamped them in Pacific Point ink around the edges of the Pacific Point layer.

The longer than normal DL sized card gives me plenty of room to put my row of shacks, and also show off the sponged sand and ocean!

Do these cards reflect your warm, sunny Christmas Day celebrations? Do you prefer the colourful, Christmassy beach shacks or the more co-ordinated beach huts?

If you would like to use this fantastic stamp set to create your Christmas cards this year, you can purchase it here.  And then request to join the Sense of Whimsy VIP Customer group for lots of great ideas and Facebook Live Project videos for projects created with the Beachy Little Christmas stamp set.
