Watercolour Pencils and Painted Poppies feature for my project today, joining the Creating Kindness Design Team April Blog Hop.

Welcome to the Creating Kindness Design Team Blog Hop for April 2020. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to hop with this fabulous group of artists each month. The theme for April is “Coloured Pencils” … any sort of coloured pencil you like. This will be an fabulous resource for all of you who love colouring.
Our guest designer this month is the amazing Liz Yuille. Liz is based in the UK and you can check out her fabulous work at her blog, Old Stables Crafts.
To check out all the Design Team Member’s projects for many different ways to use coloured pencils, check out the blog line up at the end of this post.
And here is my project.
Watercolour Pencils Painted Poppies

The only coloured pencils in the Stampin’ Up! range are the two sets of Watercolour Pencils. They are fantastic for quick and easy colouring.
I white embossed the Poppy images from Painted Poppies stamp set onto Watercolour Paper, scribbled Melon Mambo and Flirty Flamingo Watercolour Pencils onto the petals and leaves and then simply blended with an Aqua Painter.

The stencilled element has nothing to do with Watercolour Pencils, or pencils of any kind, but it does create a striking background for the watercolour flowers.
I sponged Versamark ink through one of the Pattern Party Masks and then white embossed the resulting pattern, before sponging over it with Basic Black ink. You need to be very, very gentle when sponging the black ink onto the piece. Patiently building up the colour to avoid big black blobs is key. What you can’t see is that the positioning of the flowers does hide a little accidental blob! 😉
The black adhesive rhinestones are regular rhinestones coloured up with a black Sharpie!
Some of the Creating Kindness Design Team have also created videos … here is the list … make sure you check them out!
