Cheers and Sips – Funfold Techniques for Around the World on Wednesday

Cheers and Sips Bundle has just moved over to the Last Chance List in Australia, so I am making the most of this amazing, happy bundle. The good news is that the Celebratory Sips Designer Paper is not on the last chance list, and it was a perfect choice to use to create this Star Card, thanks to Tina Zinck-MacDonald for the inspiration.

Fun Fold with a Technique …

This month we are challenged to create a fun fold featuring a technique. We are also using the fabulous work of Tina Zinck-MacDonald as inspirations for our projects.

In celebration of our 5th year, we are continuing with a series of “team member focus” blog hops where we will be CAS(e)ing an individual team member for that blog hop. Our team member focus this month is the fabulous Tina Zinck-MacDonald from USA. Tina loves a good fun fold card and she also showcases lots of techniques on her projects.

Cheers and Sips Bundle …

As I scrolled through Tina’s blog, I didn’t have to go far. Recently Tina has been showcasing various types of Star Cards, a fold that is popping up everywhere just lately. Crafters are a funny bunch … someone will feature a project and like a papercrafting mexican wave, it will show up all over the place in various different permutations. 🙂

Tina also loves to use loads of techniques in her cardmaking, and I loved the project above where she is embossing on an ink-smooshed background.

I followed Tina’s instructions, but I have changed up the measurements to suit our Aussie market in metric to fit a C6 Envelope. I also created with the Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper before I realised that Tina had also used this paper in one of her samples. I took my inspiration from Tina’s Embossed Background card, which did feature the Celebratory Sips Paper and the Glass & Garden Embossing Folders.

This clever card folds flat to fit in an envelope for mailing and then the star shape pops back out once the card comes out of the envelope.

It’s a relatively easy card to create, but it certainly helps to have talented designers creating videos. Tina offers loads of different options, but I chose the simple version. If you are wanting to create in metric, you will need to start with a 12.3 cm x 10.5 cm panel for the base.
The Star is created from 6 panels, all measuring 10 cm x 10.5 cm.
4 of the panels will be scored along the 10 cm edge at 1.3 cm, 3.8 cm, 6.3 cm and 8.8 cm.
2 of the panels will be scored along the 10 cm edge at 2.5 cm, 5 cm and 7.5 cm.
All of the DSP layers are cut at 2.2 cm x 10.2 cm.
The layering on the front and back panels (Basic White) is 7 cm x 10.2 cm.
And I trimmed the Watercolour Paper Embossing background piece to 6.7 cm x 9.9 cm.
The assembly will all make sense if you watch Tina’s video. 😉

Last Chance Items used in this project

The Cheers and Sips bundle has been a favourite for a while now, and has recently moved over to the Last Chance List, which is sad for me, but great for you if you don’t yet have it. Both the Stamp Set and Dies are on sale (so don’t purchase as a bundle, make sure you grab them individually for the best deal).
