Triple Time Stamping – The Way We Were … Around the World on Wednesday
![]()
Triple Time Stamping is an oldie but a goodie, one of the very first stamping techniques I learned when I first started exploring this wonderful craft … let’s explore Triple Time Stamping, then and now.

Triple Time Stamping …
Back when I started using rubber stamps to create cards, I joined an “online forum”, the equivalent of social media pre Facebook days. Yep, it was a while ago. Stamp Happy was a great source of inspiration and learning, with crafters generously sharing their knowledge. One of the first techniques I learned was Triple Time Stamping. It’s a simple stamping and layering technique, using either line art stamps or solid stamps.
Simply Zinnia Bundle …
I have used the Simply Zinnia Bundle to create a card as per the original technique, hand trimmed layers, all very geometric, usually centred on the card front. As these are line art images, I coloured them with Stampin’ Blends. The images are stamped onto white card, but I coloured in between the flowers with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend to create a vintage feel.
MATERIALS
Line Art Stamps (flowers and leaves work well) / White and Black or dark coloured cardstock / Memento Tuxedo Black Ink / Stampin’ Blends for colouring / Sentiment stamp and a die to suit

Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder …
While looking at ways to add a modern feel to this favourite technique using all the newfangled tools at our fingertips, I wondered if I could add some texture to the layers with an embossing folder. I used the Zinnia 3d Embossing folder and the same layers as previously, but instead of stamping images, I popped all three pieces of white card layered up together into the embossing folder and ran through the Stampin’ Cut’n’Emboss Machine. It was a tight squeeze to get it through (being 3 layers of card), but I did it. Brayering the embossed layers add the outline and then colour is added with Stampin Blends.
MATERIALS
3D Embossing Folder / White and Black or dark coloured cardstock / Memento Tuxedo Black Ink / Stampin’ Blends for colouring / Sentiment stamp and co-ordinating dies

Deckled Rectangle Dies …
Here is a modern take on that technique using dies and the Simply Zinnnia bundle.
MATERIALS
Line Art Stamps (flowers and leaves work well) / Rectangle and Circle dies / White and Black cardstock / Memento Tuxedo Black Ink / Stampin’ Blends for colouring / Sentiment stamp / Baker’s Twine

Oh yes! It was this technique, along with seeing a plain piece of paper turn into something amazing with an embossing folder, that really sold me on stamping as a hobby. Thanks for reminding me of it again. I used it last year by cutting out using deckled rectangles to create the three layers which was nice too. Great choice of set to do it with too. 🙂
Thanks so much Jan! xxx
Cool technique! I love your cards! So pretty and unique.
Thank you Theresa. xx
I have been thinking of this technique in the last couple of weeks and how I haven’t tried it lately. Well, you have inspired me to get onto it! Love both the cards. The Crumb Cake one is my favourite but I do like how you have mixed the shapes on your blue one. Great idea to emboss it.
Hey there, thank you for your comment. Yes, I was much the same … it has been a long while since I have used this technique. Very much enjoyed it re-visiting it. The Embossed card was a little tricky to get all three layers through my die cutting machine, so I might try a different combination of plates next time so it is not so tough to pass through! xx
