Fragrant Layers – Use Your Stash Around the World on Wednesday

Loading

Fragrant Layers Bundle Is an online exclusive product from Stampin’ Up!® used here for the Around the World on Wednesday March Blog Hop.

Welcome once again to Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop, travelling around the world through every time zone. You may be starting your trip Around the World here or you may have come from the blog of amazing artist Rochelle Laird-Smith. Always excited to see what Rochelle has created.

Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop is the brainchild of Angie McKenzie, a wonderful friend and amazing paper artist. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to be a part of this varied and talented group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators.

CASeing Kim Fee and Using Your Stash …

Kim Fee is a demonstrator from the UK and she participates in a “Use your Stash” Instahop every month where talented demos combine favourites from their stash along with current product. I think Kim must like Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon as much as I do as it was the projects using these colours that jumped out at me from her instagram grid and when I narrowed it down to those she had posted in the Use Your Stash hops, I chose the project below to CASe. You can see more details on Kim’s card here.

Fragrant Layers Bundle …

It was such a delight to pretty much follow Kim’s colour combination and layout. I was VERY short on time as I was heading out to Onstage the next morning, so sometimes it is truly a pleasure to totally use the design skills of another demonstrator and just lean on into it. The product from my stash is the amazing “Elements of Texture” stamp … one that is retired but will stay in my stash. It includes oh so useful text stamps and choices of splatter images (such a time saver).

Here are the similarities in my CASe of Kim’s project:
– I stamped a background image/s onto a layer using various text and splatter images (Elements of Texture – retired) using the same ink as the cardstock.
– I am not sure if Kim used White ink or Wink of Stella to add a little splatter in the background, but I used White Ink and added some splattering to the background layer.
– I created a focal floral image in blues with green leaves.
– I heat embossed the sentiment and die cut with a long rectangular die.

And the things I did a little differently:-
– I used Pretty Peacock as my base card and layer.
– I used Fragrant Layers bundle for my focal floral image, stamped with Pretty Peacock ink (and not embossed as Kim has done). Kim used the stunning flower from Simply Beautiful bundle and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I utilised the “fill in” stamp in the Fragrant Layers bundle to colour the flowers with the brighter Azure Afternoon ink, and the leaves are inked and coloured with Granny Apple Green, also using the “fill in” stamp. This made these florals come together so quickly.
– The additional leaves are using the stand alone leaf dies from Fragrant Layers, cut from Granny Apple Green cardstock and with a little touch of Pretty Peacock ink applied with a Sponge Dauber to make them a little less vibrant.
– I heat embossed my sentiment with White ink, and I think we used the same die to cut out the sentiment. It is from the Fragrant Layers die set and is actually a die which cuts out a fancy outline label with little ribbon/twine taggy things at each end. The centre piece is cut out of the frame and it is the centre piece that used for my “So Happy For You” sentiment.

The centre of my flowers are the individual flowers from Fragrant Layers dies, cut in white and then with the Azure Afternoon colour added with the “fill in” stamp, I then added Daffodil delight stamp over the top for the centre, and added some (retired) Low Profile Sparkle Dots in Darling Duckling to the center of the flowers.

I wanted some Pretty Peacock gems of some sort (but not sparkly so as not to compete with the flower centres). Nothing like that in my stash, so I created these lovely milky adhesive dots by colouring some of the white Moody Palette Glossy Dots with my Dark Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend. Just the right amount of subtle extra!

And there it is, I pulled this one together pretty quickly due to Kim’s design input and Stampin’ Up!’s fabulous stamp and die set “Fragrant Layers”.
