I was inspired by the wonderful Rochelle Laird-Smith for this card. I had an occasion to CASE Rochelle for another blog hop recently, and spied this card on her blog featuring Crushed Curry. I loved the Crushed Curry ink smooshed onto the circle die cut, so used this as a starting point for my card today. I love how it looks like a big bright full moon.

Coneflower Celebration

Rochelle used Spotlight on Nature flower for her card … I pulled out Coneflower Celebration which I love, stamped onto Watercolour Paper and water coloured the flower with Smoky Slate and Crushed Curry ink. The flower looked a little dull, so I added Wink of Stella for some moonlit shimmer, and then some White Craft Ink. The White Craft Ink does fade back quite a bit on the watercolour paper, so looks quite “grey”.

Coneflower Celebration

The butterfly from Coneflower Celebration has been watercoloured with Crushed Curry ink and then made all shimmery with Wink of Stella.

I added an embossed background layer as Rochelle has done, embossed with the new Gathering Leaves embossing folder and adding some Smoky Slate ink with an ink blending brush. I added a Smoky Slate card stock layer, but offset both layers.

The sentiment has been heat embossed onto black card with white embossing powder. Retired Drusy Dots have been added to add some sparkle.

A big thank you to Rochelle for the inspiration for this one.

INKspired to join the challenge?

Why don’t you join in the challenge with us? A great one for a monochromatic image. For inspiration check out the CI195 Designers Album here. You can also add other neutrals such as Very Vanilla, Basic Beige, Basic White, Basic Black to your project along with metallics. We also allow ‘Ivory’, ‘Bronze’, and ‘Natural Tones’ in the Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t have the colours in our palette, feel free to use the closest Stampin’ Up! (or any other brand) substitute – Gray Granite instead of Smoky Slate, for instance. Then upload it to the Facebook group here.

We can’t wait to see what you create! This challenge finishes at 7:00pm on Monday September 22nd.
