Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set and the Splendid Stems are a favourite stamp set and die bundle in the Stampin’ Up!® Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalogue and that is what I am using for my Around the World on Wednesday project today.

Welcome once again to Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop, travelling around the world through every time zone. You may be starting here or you may have come from the blog of the amazing Cazz Boylan, and wasn’t her project fabulous?!!
Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop is the brainchild of Angie McKenzie, a wonderful friend and amazing paper artist. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to be a part of this varied and talented group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators.
Sketches are such great inspiration …

We were given the option to use one of the above sketches to use as inspiration for our projects today … or all three of them! I am using Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set and Splendid Stems Dies for my project today.
For my first project, I used the first version of this sketch.
WARNING: if you dislike green, probably best if you LOOK AWAY NOW! It is a bit intense!
Quick, scroll on down, there is a different version further down the page.
Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set …

What a riot of jungle green! I have taken the sketch quite literally … I included strips in the background and the three circles as a base for my green on green on green collage of foliage. The “twine” element is Gold Trim pulled apart to create crinkly strip of gold thread!

Colours are Granny Apple Green and Garden Green, featuring paper from the Awash in Beauty Designer Series Paper and gold embossing for the die cut foliage. I have also added shading to the foliage with Stampin’ Blends in the same or similar colours. A little bit of ink blending across the strips creates an additional level of dimension.
The strips were originally a die cut Deckled Rectangle in Granny Apple Green cardstock, stamped and ink blended with Granny Apple Green ink before being cut into 1cm strips. The circle elements are from the Stylish Shapes Dies.

Totally different colour way …
For my second project, I have used Version 2 of the sketch, and totally different colours! These colours are actually from the Colour INKspiration colour challenge this fortnight (I am sort of multi-tasking here). Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Sweet Sorbet. The strip run across the card this time, and doesn’t it create a different effect? Sort of like a timber louvre window.

Next up we are are going to take a trip all the way across the ocean to the Nederlands, to Daniel Kassing’s blog …
