Dragonfly Garden Bundle …. Stampin’ Up!® Jan-Jun 2021 Mini Catalogue.
Welcome to my blog on this second
Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set and Punch Bundle
I finally settled on the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set and Punch bundle. This was the very first bundle I received from this catalogue, as part of Stampin’ Up! Onstage event back in November 2020. It is a stamp set I seem to reach for all the time …. dragonflies are universally appealing.
Beginner, Casual and Avid Crafters
For today’s hop, I am showcasing how products can be suitable for all levels of crafter. No matter which category you fall into, there is a project here for you. Something a little bit different this month though …. this is fussy cutting Beginner, Casual and Avid.
A beginner crafter is someone who is new to stamping, and will be looking to create with minimal supplies and easy techniques.
A casual crafter is someone who thinks that this paper crafting lark is pretty good and is keen to move beyond the basic supplies, maybe get a punch or two … and attempt some more challenging techniques and layering, maybe start including embellishments.
An avid crafter is feeling the passion, knows that getting into the craft room is an inexpensive form of therapy, and is accumulating lots of “things”. She is also not afraid use lots of different products on one card … and take that little bit extra time on one project.
Dragonfly Garden Beginner Crafter Card
Simple can be stunning …. this card is just one layer, a little bit of blending with the amazing Blending Brushes, stamping and colouring with Stampin’ Blends.
I also introduced Wink of Stella Glitter Pen, an integral tool for any stamper, to give the dragonfly some shimmer … also giving the card some shimmery Wink of Stella splatter just to finish off.
The ink blending is with Bumble Bee and Calypso Coral inks. Notice how the Calypso Coral takes on an orange hue over the Bumble Bee ink. I used Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend Combos for colouring. No blending, just adding colour.
Dragonfly Garden Casual Crafter Card
For my casual card, I used one of the cards from the Dandy Garden Memories and More Cards and Envelopes pack. It is a little larger than our regular sized cards and has a great pre-printed pattern already on the front.
I also introduced some Designer Series Paper as a layer with this card. While there is a paper pack in this suite of products …. Dandy Garden 6″ x 6″ Patterned Paper …. I have elected to use Whale of a Time 6″ x 6″ Patterned Paper. I love the patterns and colours in this particular pack.
This time I have used the Blending Brushes to blend Bumble Bee and Calypso Coral inks on a smaller panel of card, being a little more heavy handed with the Calypso Coral this time gives a more intense shading.
The stamping and colouring is the same as the beginner card, except this time I stamped my dragonfly separately and punched him out with the co-ordinating Dragonflies punch. Again, a little Wink of Stella adds some shimmer to my dragonfly wings and the addition of some Linen Thread adds texture.
Dragonfly Garden Avid Crafter Card
My avid project includes the same stamps, blending and colouring, just on a smaller layer. Which leaves lots of room on this square card to feature two different sets of stitched and layering dies to showcase the Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper.
The die sets are the Stitched Rectangles … I just used one part of the larger dies to add stitched detail to the strips of paper. And the Stitched So Sweetly dies create the detail on the feature layer and also on one of the strips and those layers peeking out from behind the dragonfly.
And just for some added interest I stamped one of the die cuts with the group of dragonflies, before blending with Granny Apple Green ink and colouring with Bermuda Bay stampin’ blends. Wink of Stella also adds some shimmer, both to the dragonfly wings and also splattered over the blended panel.
Finally, distressed edges add another level of interest … as you can see, lots of different steps to bring this card to finality.
