Jar of Flowers is a fabulously floral set, with that country feel of displaying hand picked flowers from the garden in a glass jar!
Welcome to my blog. Today I am very excited to be participating in my first Colour INKspiration challenge as a Design Team Member! This group is up to Challenge #90 … and the challenge graphic this fortnight is AMAZING!!
Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Pretty Peacock
And here is my take on this Colour Challenge. I have moved away from the Christmas theme, and shifted the focus of the colours a little, with the Daffodil Delight being featured in the flowers.
A little relaxing water colouring is the order of the day! All of the floral images in the set are just wonderful to colour, no matter what colouring implement you use, but today I have used my regular classic inks in all the Challenge Colours and a water brush to colour up the flowers … and the vase .. and then for good measure, I water coloured the whole background with Pool Party ink. Wow this certainly made the flowers pop.
I did stamp my images in Stazon Jet Black ink onto Fluid 100 Water Colour Paper. You need to have a nice juicy Stazon to get the images to stamp crisply on the slightly textured water colour paper.
Creating enamel look words …
The die cut word Thanks is from the Well Written Dies. I cut it out of Pool Party card and then clear embossed the die cut. To get the enamel look, while the powder is still hot, quickly dunk it back in the clear embossing powder. Heat the word again, and repeat this process until you have built up enough powder for the word to look like enamel. It gets easier after you have a few layers of melted powder as the piece retains the heat more. I think I embossed this piece four times. It does change the colour a little, intensifying it, but it still tones well.
I added a couple of stamped diagonal lines (from Jar of Flowers set) along the base of the water coloured piece before adhering the enamelled word.
The ribbon around the jar is Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding, coloured up with the Pretty Peacock Light Stampin’ Blend. This is a fabulous and super easy way to create any colour of ribbon you like.
And the layer is Petal Pink Designer Series Paper, layered onto a Petal Pink card. Nothing really too tricky with this card. If you would like to see me create it live, I will be doing that in my Stampin’ Up! group tonight at 8:00pm South Australia time, 8:30pm Daylight Savings Time and 7:30pm Queensland time. For a list of times around the world, head on over to the event here.
