Small Bloom Punch Header

The Small Bloom Punch is tiny but mighty! As soon as I saw the Colour Inkspiration #86 graphic, that is what jumped into my head.

Welcome to my blog … I am so excited to be the Guest Designer for the Colour Inkspiration Challenge #86. Below is the inspiration image …. now can you see the Small Bloom Punch?

Colour Inkspiration #86

….and here is my project.

Small Bloom Punch for Colour Inkspiration #86

Shaded Spruce, Pacific Point and Coastal Cabana

Love this colour combination! I had a lot of fun using these three colours to do some “smooshing” onto Shimmery White Cardstock. I used the ink refills for Shaded Spruce, Pacific Point and Coastal Cabana, mixed them in a palette with a little water and then put brush fulls of colour side by side onto one of those craft mats (looks like a heat proof biscuit/cookie sheet).
I brushed clean water onto the Shimmery White Card first, and then put the wet side of the card down into the little piles of inky goodness on the craft mat. Give it a little wriggle and then lift up. Oh My Gosh!! Love the random effect. For extra intensity, dry those pieces off and then sop up the left over ink mess with the same piece. Putting the wet watered down ink onto dry card gives you a totally different look, and also makes all these gorgeous watercolour look effects.

And every single piece will be totally different … I love that!!!

Small Bloom Punch + Butterfly Wishes Stamps

I think the Small Bloom Punch flowers look a little better if they have a “centre”. The co-ordinating stamp set for Small Bloom Punch is Basket of Blooms (Page 48 in the Annual Catalogue) … it was on sale yesterday, did you grab it? Anyway, I don’t have that one, so I skipped through the catalogue and found the little five petalled image in Butterfly Wishes. It is not exactly a match, but for this patchy sort of background, it would work well. It is a distinktive style of stamp so the texture is light enough that it will still let all the patterns on the card show through.

I stamped off most of the flower images, and probably could have used full strength for the Coastal Cabana, but anyway I had a fabulous time punching out all these little flowers, loving every one for it’s own uniqueness! 😉

  • Once these two pieces were adhered to the card front (with the frame being mounted up with Foam Adhesive Strips), it was time to adhere all those gorgeous flowers.
  • I glued some base flowers in place with regular Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, then another layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals, all within the confines of the frame.
  • For the flowers that spill over the edge of the frame, they have been adhered with Mini Glue Dots. I had to put two or three glue dots stacked up on one side (inside the frame) and then just one glue dot to adhere the petal over the frame. Just to keep them level. Exuberance is key I think! 🙂
  • To mimic the little drops of dew or rain all over the clover in the inspiration pic, I added some of the small Clear Epoxy Dots … I only had a few and I am quite glad of that as it might have been a little bit too much to add any more. So I also added some small dots of Fine Tip Glue Pen adhesive around the leaves.

At this point I had to walk away and not touch this card until those little drops were totally, totally dry. Actually my photos were taken while they were wet, but I am pleased to report they are now fully dry and they stayed fully dimensional, none of them “sunk” into the card. I am so happy with them … and they are so touchy feely!

If you haven’t visited the Colour INKspirations facebook page, before, make sure you take a look. And maybe pop a card into the colour challenge!
