Creating Kindness Design Team July 2020 – Art Inspiration

My Meadow has lots of lovely textural elements to help build a scene.

Welcome to the Creating Kindness Design Team Blog Hop for July 2020. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to hop with this fabulous group of artists each month. The theme for May is “Art Inspiration”. We have hopped with this theme previously and I have a lot of fun with it, not really creating a card for “giving”, but creating something for my inner nutcase.
Our guest designer this month is the amazing **** drum roll ***** Kayla McCreadie. Kayla is one of the most talented and productive creators I know. Check out her fabulous projects on her blog.
Sometimes it is nice to create … Just Because!

I had a vision … getting that vision from my head onto cardstock is another matter entirely.
I wanted to create a “Monet Inspired” scene … the little bridge from My Meadow stamp set was my starting point. In fact all the elements in this card are from the My Meadow stamp set, except for the sentiment, which is from the new Lovely You stamp set. The sentiments in this set are to die for.
My Meadow and Lovely You Stamp Sets
Monet it ain’t!!!
Now I am being very courageous here and showing you a close up pic of the card front. This card was all about starting with the images and areas I wanted to be light or have some punchy colour. I used Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper and I have white embossed some elements and stamped other elements with bright colours and Versamark before clear embossing.
From here, I stamped those textural elements from My Meadow stamp set about the place and blended them with my Aquapainter. Then I just kept adding little shadows and texture with the stamps.
I did run into one problem with my trees and the yellow embossed sections, I couldn’t get anything to stamp over them at all. So I ended up having to use Black Stazon ink. It totally changed the image by adding black and while it wasn’t my original vision of soft blended colours with a pop of pink and yellow, it certainly looks better than big blobs of yellow.

And all of a sudden, my meadow became a field of wildflowers.

Take an art gallery tour with the Creating Kindness Blog Hop …

Thanks Liz, it did take about 45 minutes … which is shorter than some of my lives! 🙂 Because it was a one take wonder, I just had to keep going with it, no matter what it looked like. If I was to do it again, I now know how to make it work better!!
