It is that time of the month again … how did it roll around so quickly?! It is time for Kylie’s International Blog Highlight and the theme this month is Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration products. The gallery of projects on Kylie’s Page here is a great resource for inspiration and ideas, all in the one place and you get to vote for your favourites! That would be me …. right? **Grin**
Actually this month, I have chosen to enter one of those confronting cards that people will either love or hate! I ask you to give my card a second look, don’t let first impressions sway you!
Lots of Lavender
Lots of Lavender is one of the stamp sets you can earn for free with a qualifying order of $90 or more during Sale-A-Bration. It is a gazillion step stamp set … well, it is as many steps as you would like to make it. There is an outline stamp and quite a few colouring stamps which are stamped directly over the top of the outline. However this time I elected to colour the outline image with Inks and a Blender Pen … I used Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist.
The background panel is created by adhering strips of scrap pieces of cardstock in Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Night of Navy across a panel of Whisper White cardstock. I deliberately chose striking colours, but I underestimated the onslaught to the senses of this particular colour combination.
The Lots of Lavender outline image is stamped with Night of Navy and then coloured with a blender pen and Berry Burst ink. I deliberately kept the colouring soft by not overloading the Blender Pen nib with colour, and then at the end I went back in and highlighted some of the petals with heavier colour.
Celebrate You Thinlits Dies
And isn’t this word “Amazing” totally delicious? It is from the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies, which is also an item you can get for free during Sale-A-Bration with a $180 or more order. I was looking for some gold foil sheet, but I am out of it at the moment. So I die cut the word out of Whisper White cardstock, covered it with Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder. I then covered the word with Versamark again and Gold embossed a second time. It is not as shiny as gold foil, but WOW, I love the more aged, distinctly metallic end result. The die cut word ‘YOU” also comes from this set.
A few leaves die cut from vellum and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper adhered behind the fussy cut Lavender image complete the front of the card.
Don’t forget to decorate the inside of the card while you have all your supplies out.
And just because it is so yummy … here is another view of that Gold Embossed “Amazing”.
And another ….
Don’t you just want to touch those lovely rounded edges!?
Leave it alone now Cheryll!
If you get a chance to check out the amazing gallery over on Kylie’s Page, you won’t be disappointed and I would love it if you would vote for me. I am in spot #24. The system has changed and you just have to click on the word “vote” to cast your votes now. My mate Colleen also has a card submitted using the Truly Tailored Stamp Set (spot #22) … you can vote for five of your favourite projects so if you would give Colleen a vote as well, that would be fantastic. I am off to fondle my amazing some more now! 😉
Thanks in advance. Talk soon.
xx Cheryll
