Tip Top Cucumbers are Delightful in an Eastern Beauty sort of way …

GDP085 Header

Question:  Which are your favourite three colours from the Stampin’ Up!® 2015-2017 In Colours?  This is the question posed by the Global Design Project this week.

GDP085 Tip Top Cucumbers are Delightful

Watermelon Wonder …. check.
Cucumber Crush … hardly ever used.
Delightful Dijon …. just a little bit.
Mint Macaron …. check.
Tip Top Taupe …. check.

So the thing is, Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder are already sold out as the 2016-2017 catalogue comes to a close, so whether they are my favourites or not is a little bit irrelevant!  Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon and Tip Top Taupe ink pads are still available as at 6th May (and at a reduced rate of AU$9.20 each), and so my personal challenge was to use these colours together in a project.

GDP085 Retiring In Colours

Eastern Palace Suite Pre-Release

The Eastern Palace Suite has been pre-released by Stampin’ Up! one month ahead of the new Annual Catalogue release and I have used some of the items in that suite here. The little star shape is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set and is stamped and clear embossed in the three retiring In Colours, Delightful Dijon, Cucumber Crush and Tip Top Taupe. To emboss with your regular dye inks, ink up your stamp with Versamark ink first and then ink with your chosen ink colour. That way the ink stays wet long enough to apply embossing powder and heat to melt.

They have been die cut with the corresponding die from the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies … and I have to say this would have to be the most straight forward die in the set … the other dies are very different and very spectacular.

The Lots of Labels Framelits dies go wonderfully with the Eastern Palace Suite of products. In the vertical orientation the labels remind me of an exotic wall plaque or a palace window. My “exotic wall plaque” has been embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder. To create the frame, die cut the same size frame in a contrasting colour (in this case Cucumber Crush), chop in half and adhere behind the embossed frame with Multipurpose Liquid Glue so that a small layer shows top and bottom. Using the liquid glue allows you a few seconds of “wriggle room” to get the positioning of the behind pieces just right.

Eastern Palace Feature

And did you notice the gold medallions on the Delightful Dijon background layer? No embossing required here as they are Gold Vinyl Stickers! Aren’t they gorgeous! The Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers are a new product offering from the upcoming catalogue, but are available as a pre-release in May as part of the Eastern Palace Suite Bundles. 4 sheets of wonderfully elegant high quality stickers which will add a touch of opulence to any project.

Thank You One Big MeaningThe “Thank You” greeting is stamped with Versamark ink, then Tip Top Taupe ink and clear embossed. It comes from the One Big Meaning stamp set (Wood Mount or Clear Mount). This set has lots of “thank you’s” and they are pretty specific thank you’s.

One Big Meaning

I just wanted plain old “Thank You”, so I covered up the “you are too kind” from that particular stamp with washi tape, inked up the stamp, then removed the washi tape before stamping.

GDP085 the inside story

The inside of the card is stamped with more of the little star shapes in the three In Colours, and I have used a greeting from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.

Out with the Old, in with the New …

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction … Newton’s third law applies in the case of Stampin’ Up! In Colours! While we lose five colours on 31st May, it means we gain five new colours!! 🙂

While we are all shedding a little tear over Mint Macaron fading into the sunset, look at what is just around the corner!!
2017-2019 In Colours

And you know …. if you stamp off Tranquil Tide about a zillion times, you sort of get a Minty shade. Sorry Mint Macaron, I won’t forget you, but a girl’s got to move on … right?

So in an effort to welcome in the new shades, I have created this card in Fresh Fig, Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist.

GDP085 With New Incolours

Look how those Gold Vinyl Stickers stand out on the Fresh Fig cardstock. And the Lemon Lime Twist … Oh My!! Not only does it sound delicious, it is a stunning highlight colour!

You know you can get your hands on these three new In Colours earlier than 1st June, don’t you?

  • I love the idea of showing the same card in two different colors to show what’s possible with the stamp set! Both cards are beautiful and have a neat Arabian Nights feel!

    • Thank you Natalie. It was sort of my farewell to the old colours and “hello new colours” … said in a cheesy sort of way! 😉

  • Both cards are amazing and so elegant! I’m gonna miss these colours. You’ve got me thinking which of them I’ve used the most. Mint Macaron was definitely the one I loved followed by Delightful Dijon (yes I’m weird like this haha). But same as you, I didn’t use Cucumber Crush much either xx These new In Colours however are all amazing x

    • Thank you Anna! Yes, I will miss Mint Macaron as well. If you stamp off Tranquil Tide a few times, or use it as a watered down wash, it is a minty colour! 🙂 I love all the new In Colours too! xxx

  • Your project is stunning inside and out, Cheryll! The way you have embossed the ‘Thankyou’ makes the card a standout. The Eastern Palace Suite of products you have used are just gorgeous (in both projects). Thankyou for playing along with this weeks Global Design Project Challenge.
