Words of Beauty for Colour INKspiration Challenge 199

Words of Beauty Bundle is a newish Stamp Set and Die bundle from Stampin’ Up!® … I pulled in a few different products and mixed it up for Colour INKspiration Challenge No. 199.

Words of Beauty …

This project was the result of trying to fix something I really didn’t like (scroll down) … I created it live for my Whimsy Weekday YouTube … using the same template as my very green card but changing up the colour proportions for the Colour INKspiration Challenge #199.

Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce and Pecan Pie are all very strong shades, and my first combination was very “in your face” … so using the inspiration graphic as a guide, I toned them down by introducing a neutral shade, Basic Beige.

There is just a little touch of Cherry Cobbler in the Designer Series Paper in the background, peaking out on an angle. This paper is from “Need for Tweed”, a little well hidden pack of 12″ x 12″ paper featuring warm and textural fabric designs. I have also included one of the “Woven Textures” DSP patterns in there in a neutral colour.

A happy accident …

The embossed layer uses the Gathering Leaves Embossing folder … my new favourite. I stamped the panel of Basic Beige first with foliage images from the Words of Beauty sister stamp set (Petals of Beauty) in Basic Beige ink for a tone on tone look. And this is where a happy accident occured … when I created my first card I used Shaded Spruce for this layer and the ink had transferred to the embossing folder. I saw it on there before I embossed during my live, but decided to run with it and see what it looked like. Can you see the shadow of Shaded Spruce on the embossed background. I think it looks great and is just another subtle layer of texture and dimension. I probably couldn’t re-create it if I tried! 🙂

There is a heap of other bits in the layering …. Pecan Pie is brought into the mix with the Nested Essentials die cut, embossing with the Beautiful Pattern 3D embossing folder.

Shaded Spruce is used for the die cut leaves (from Petals of Beauty). There are also some gold foil and Basic Beige leaves in the mix as well.

Then the star of the show is the beautiful layered word “because”, I have used all three dies to create lots of texture and oomph! The two words in this bundle are “because” and “just” and then there are a heap of add on sentiments. Love it.

So I guess I had better show you the rejected card … eeep! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
