Terrific Toadstools – Case’ing the Catalogue – Stamping Sunday

Loading

Terrific Toadstools Bundle is a favourite Stamp Set and punch bundle and I was so glad to see it carry over into the 2025/2026 Annual Catalogue from Stampin’ Up!®.

This month the Stamping Sunday team are Case’ing the Stampin’ Up!® 2025-2026 Annual Catalogue, with a twist. To Case a project is to “Copy and Selectively Edit” something that you see and like. But this time we are challenged to choose a project and then flip it into something different, i.e. make a card project into a scrapbook layout or gift packaging, or take a scrapbook layout and make it into a card.

Terrific Toadstools bundle …

I chose a scrapbooking layout on page 108 of the Annual Catalogue to CASE. I loved the background technique created with embossing folders and wanted to create a card using this technique.

It was a bit of a labour of love, but below is the card I created using the scrapbook layout as my inspiration.

Terrific Toadstools

Turtle Textures embossing folder …

The project in the catalogue uses the So Swirly Embossing Folder, but I have been wanting to use the Turtle Textures embossing folder, so I pulled it out to use. It reminds me of 1960’s retro patterns, so I chose some retro colours to use with it … Gorgeous Grape, Petunia Pop, Strawberry Slush and Crushed Curry. I embossed a panel of card in each of the colours and then used a brayer to apply ink to the panels accentuating that groovy pattern.

Each piece was then sliced up into a sunray type pattern, following the same layout for each piece. So now I have enough “slices” for four cards.

I selected different colours and adhered to a white sheet of cardstock, with a small border in between each piece. This means that the pieces overhang the edges of the white card, but are easily snipped off to give a neat edge. This layer is then adhered to a Basic White Thick folded card.

I stamped the mushrooms from Terrific Toadstools onto Watercolour card and then blended the inks with a water brush. I fussy cut all the mushrooms and layed them onto the Arched background. These arches are from Everyday Arches die bundle and I cut them in Gorgeous Grape and white, and then trimmed off the bottom edge so they sat nicely over the central point of the embossed pieces, which can get a bit messy.

I lightly ink blended the bottom section of the white arch with Crushed Curry ink and then adhered my little grouping of mushrooms over the top. The sentiment is white heat embossed onto Gorgeous Grape and fussy cut. The final touch is the little Bee Trinkets.

So what do you think? It’s bright, that’s for sure … and I like to think the mushrooms are the perfect whimsical touch for this colourful card. Not my usual style, but loads of fun to create.
