Citrus Blooms Bundle for Colour INKspiration Challenge 184

Loading

Citrus Blooms Bundle from Stampin’ Up!® … it was all over the place when the Stampin’ Up! 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue launched. Well, it’s nearly time for a new Annual Catalogue to launch, and the big question is … will it stay or will it go? Just in case, I decided to used it for Colour INKspiration Colour Challenge #184.

Welcome to our 184th challenge at Colour INKspiration. Our inspiration image for this challenge was chosen by Colour INKspiration Crew Member Alisa Tilsner.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Sandra Hebel. Sandra does such amazing work and I cannot wait to see what she creates with this somewhat challenging combination.

CI#184 will run for almost TWO weeks and will end at 7 pm (AEST/AEDT) on Monday 7th April, 2025.

We all have bad days and we all create projects we are not happy with.
This was one of those days/projects.

This could possibly be one of the worst cards I have ever created, and I say that about a lot of my projects, but this one is blegh!!! Firstly, I am not a fan of these colours. I very rarely work with red and Mossy Meadow is my least fave in the Stampin’ Up!® range. But I haven’t participated in a challenge for a while and was determined I would get this done.

Sorry CI Design Team … I will bury this one in the inspiration folder! 🙂 I have only proceeded with uploading this one to show you that we all have bad days. We all struggle sometimes.

It was the watercolouring that went awry. It looked okay when I first started, but I didn’t like the white border around it when I had die cut those lemons … so I tried to add an Azure afternoon wash around the edge after it had been die cut … FAIL #1.

Then I realised I had to add some Mossy Meadow somewhere … I white heat embossed the sentiment onto watercolour card and then washed Mossy Meadow over the top. Meanwhile I had already glued on the lemons and the Garden Green circular piece. The Mossy Meadow sentiment looked awful, but I had to add this yukky colour in somewhere (no offence intended to all of you who like Mossy Meadow). FAIL #2

Then it looked funny having such a large chunk of Mossy Meadow without it being anywhere else, so I stupidly elected to add some Mossy Meadow watercolour over the Garden Green leaves, just in the very top to look like shadow “AFTER THE IMAGE HAD BEEN ADHERED TO THE CARD WITH DIMENSIONALS” …. very big FAIL #3. It bled everywhere and the more I tried to fix it the worse it got.

The red flower centres were bugging me greatly … they just looked so out of place. I decided to add some bling, using the Red Pearlised Enamel Effects. Well it sort of worked, but you will note that there are NO close up photos of my card today. FAIL #4

And the White Baker’s twine looked great, but of course, I decided to dye it with Mossy Meadow ink, because Hey, if you hate a colour, why not add yet some more. 🙂 FAIL #5

INKspired to join the challenge? EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TALE OF WOE?

Why don’t you join in the challenge with us? Create a card for the challenge using all five colours … I dare you to show me how it should be done!! You may also add Very Vanilla, Basic Beige, Crumb Cake, Basic White, Basic Black and metallics to your project. We also allow ‘Ivory’, ‘Bronze’, and ‘Natural Tones’ in the Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t have the colours in our palette, feel free to use the closest Stampin’ Up! substitute – Real Red instead of Poppy Parade for instance. Then upload it to the Facebook group here.

We can’t wait to see what you create! This challenge finishes at 7:00pm on Monday April 7th.
