Kindest Expressions – The Weather Man – Stamping Sunday

Loading

Kindest Expressions is a Cling Rubber Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!® that has been sadly overlooked on my stamp shelf. The theme for the Stamping Sunday blog hop today is “the Weather Man” and the perfect opportunity to use one of the sentiments from this stamp set that I absolutely love, but haven’t yet used …. “Sending Sunshine and Rainbows”.

Kindest Expressions … and lots of other stuff.

Seeing as Kindest Expressions is a sentiment only stamp set, I also pulled out some other products to use for this project. It really was a “create as you go” production, and I video’d the process because I knew it was going to be too involved to write a description for.
I used Delicate Forest Stamp Set and Dies, my favourite Stylish Shapes Dies and also the online stamp set “Elements of Text” because it was on the desk.

Of course, I wanted a rainbow to go with this sentiment … but didn’t have a rainbow stamp set. 🙁 So I have used the circle dies from Stylish Shapes Dies to create my own rainbow with ink and blending brushes. I used the good old ROYGBIV to select the colours … “Rinse Out Your Granny’s Boots In Vinegar” … or Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.

I elected to use some Heat Emboss Resisting for this quite large sentiment, otherwise it would have covered up most of the background. Creating the rainbow was immensely satisfying using all the circle sizes in the Stylish Shapes Dies. It was just a matter of starting with the largest as a mask and ink blending around the edge, using the first rainbow colour (Red = Poppy Parade). Then I used the next smallest circle to create the next rainbow shade (Orange = Pumpkin Pie), and so on through the remaining colours. Yellow = Daffodil Delight, Green = Granny Apple Green, Blue = Azure Afternoon, Indigo = Gorgeous Grape, Violet = Berry Burst.

So my Rainbow Mnemonic ends up as PPDGAGB ….

Delicate Forest Stamp Set and Dies …

The “foresty silhouette frame” from the Delicate Forest dies was perfect for this card … well not quite perfect, I did have to cut it in half and streeeeetch it out to fit the square card format, but that was pretty easy. I did add some of the die cut foliage to the bottom to continue the frame effect across the card.

Ooooh!! An IN YOUR FACE close up! Showing all the slips and splodges that I didn’t quite manage to hide. Once I get the video up, it is a journey through a day in the life of a Klutzy Crafter! 😉 But with a bit of polishing and some “added shadow”, the white heat embossed words stand out quite nicely from the rainbow background.

A mini rainbow on the inside completes the card! Love it when I get my inside done at the same time as the project … doesn’t always happen, but it means the card is much more likely to be sent out if it has an inside done.

So what do you think? A little bit messy and a crafting journey. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this card and LOVE how colourful it is.

I am excited to see how the other designers interpreted this theme … hop on over to to the amazing Mikaela Titheridge’s blog first, then follow the hop all the way through the entire blog hop list. I know you will be thrilled by the creativity. I am off to check out all the amazing designer’s projects now … don’t forget to leave comments as you go. We love comments so we know you are out there and looking at our creations.

See you next month.
