Stamping Sunday Blog Hop April – Celebrate

Vibrant Vases is a good, old favourite Stamp Set from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue.

Welcome to my blog on this second Sunday of March 2020. Today I am hopping with the Stamping Sunday Second Sunday team hosted by Sara Levin, the Artful Inker. This month we are celebrating … it is a strange time to be celebrating right in the middle of these very tragic days. However, it is a time to celebrate the little things.

Vibrant Vases Stamp Set

As we race towards the end of both the 2019-2020 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue and the Jan-May Mini Catalogue, I am starting to pull out my favourite stamp sets. Vibrant Vases is one of those.
All of my cards today use two ink colours, Early Espresso and Grapefruit Grove … Jaffa colours …. YUM!

Beginner, Casual and Avid Crafters

For this hop, I am featuring the “Beginner, Casual and Avid” samples. If you are familiar with Stampin’ Up! you will have seen these terms used quite a bit this year.

A beginner crafter is someone who is new to stamping, and will be looking to create with just inks, stamps and paper.

A casual crafter is someone who thinks that this papercrafting lark is pretty good and is keen to move beyond the basic supplies, maybe get a punch or two … or even invest in a diecutting machine.

An avid crafter is feeling the passion, knows that getting into the craft room is an inexpensive form of therapy, and is accumulating lots of “things”. Of course, she wants to use them all and doesn’t blink an eye at taking an hour to make a card! 😉

Beginner Project

My beginner project is technically simple and uses basic supplies of stamps, inks and paper … however it does sneak in the Vase Builder punch. The vases are very easy to fussy cut if you don’t have the punch though, so don’t let that daunt you if you want to recreate this card.

I have used the solid daisy image to create a background pattern with Grapefruit Grove and Early Espresso inks, mostly stamped off to keep the background light and airy.

The vases are stamped in the same colours, some additional detail added with a blender pen, and the vases punches, flowers fussy cut. The sentiment is stamped with Early Espresso ink on a strip of Grapefruit Grove cardstock. Super Simple.

Casual Project

Next level up, my casual project uses the same images, but I have added some heat embossing to the mix. The Early Espresso flowers in the background are heat embossed with clear embossing powder onto Grapefruit Grove checked Designer Series Paper. This makes the Early Espresso flowers really pop against the flowers stamped with Grapefruit Grove ink.

For the vases and flowers, I stamped the outlines first, added some detail and then used Versamark and Grapefruit Grove in for the solid stamp over the top, clear embossing at this stage so that the vases and flowers are shiny.

The sentiment panel is white embossed on Early Espresso card and then punched with the Everyday label punch.

Avid Project

My project for the over the top Avid Stamper takes just a little more time, and includes a simple, but interesting flap fold, die cuts and extreme heat embossing.

This project introduces some other products into the mix. I have used the Nature’s Thoughts Dies for the front panel with the delightful stitched edge, and for the die cut leaves. This die set will be available again in June with the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue.

The vases have been clear embossed multiple times until they have an enamelled finish. This intensifies the colour and really makes them pop, although it is tricky to photograph. Believe it or not, the vases and flowers are stamped with Grapefruit Grove ink.

The Early Espresso patterned background layer is the solid flowers again, stamped on the background Early Espresso layer with Early Espresso ink, with a select few being stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

This is a “flap fold” card, the little front panel flaps up to reveal a hidden message, and then the front flap opens to reveal an inside panel.

The hidden sentiment under the front flap is from the Ornate Thanks stamp set, one of the products in the Early Release Ornate Garden suite of products available this month.
