Relaxing Waterside – Sketch Challenge Around the World on Wednesday

Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop is the brainchild of Angie McKenzie, a wonderful friend and amazing paper artist. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to be a part of this varied and talented group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators.

Relaxing Waterside – new product coming in May 2026 …

There is a new catalogue brimming with loads of fabulous products coming in May … here is a sneak peek of one of my faves, the Relaxing Waterside bundle (part of the Waterside Retreat Suite).

One of the feature images is this amazing deck chair … called an Adirondack Chair. The little seagull is a bit funky, but hey he fits right into that space! Some of the features of this card are:

• Colours used – Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight and a touch of Summer Splash and Pretty Peacock.
• The chair is stamped in Coastal Cabana with a little hint of Pretty Peacock added with a sponge dauber before stamping … then coloured with Pool Party Stampin’ Blends.
• The front Basic White panel has been torn along the bottom and then ink blended around the edges with Daffodil Delight.
• The vellum circle is die cut with Stylish Shapes dies (largest) and softens the background nicely for a softer vibe.
• I stamped the grassy things with Pool Party and Coastal Cabana directly onto the ink blended panel. To make some shorter “grass” I just inked up the bottom of the grass stamp with a sponge dauber. That worked well.
• I added some “ground” with the light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends, just coloured freehand. And the little dots of sand to indicate texture are dotted on with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker.

• As we were working to the sketch challenge, my background includes for four panels separate by strips. I used a Petal Pink and Pool Party pattern for the two right hand panels (from the soon to be released Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper).
• For the left hand panel, I used Pool Party card stock and the Soft Waves 3D embossing folder (which I thought went well with the whole sitting back on the beach theme). By the way, this embossing folder is on the Last Chance List at a reduced cost. See it here.
• The decorative strips, set at odd angles on each side of the feature piece, are cut from the black and white designs in the Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper. I cut them to different widths and coloured the patterns with Pool Party and Summer Splash Stampin’ Blends. Sadly, Summer Splash is a retiring in Colour … the Stampin’ Blends in this colour are still available and at a reduced price on the Last Chance List here.

• And lastly, a wrap of Linen Thread completes the relaxing picture.
