Inspiring Imperfections Bundle … part of the Kintsugi Inspirations Suite Collection in the current Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue

Welcome once again to Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop, travelling around the world through every time zone. You may be starting your trip Around the World here or you may have come from the blog of amazing artist Rochelle Laird-Smith. Always excited to see what Rochelle has created. And this month is extra special as we are also CASe’ing Rochelle to create our projects.
Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop is the brainchild of Angie McKenzie, a wonderful friend and amazing paper artist. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to be a part of this varied and talented group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators.
This or That – Paper Tearing? …
This month we have multiple challenges … we are featuring Paper Tearing in our projects, and asking “This or That”, and Case’ing a fellow team member .
In celebration of our 5th year, we are continuing with a series of “team member focus” blog hops where we will be CAS(e)ing an individual team member for that blog hop. Our team member focus this month is the absolutly inspiring Jan Clothier from New Zealand. Jan is an absolute sweetie, a past Artisan Design Team Member and her style is elegant and stunning. I had such a great time scrolling through her blog Thinking Stamping. And I will apologise to Jan in advance for my attempts at caseing her cards. 🙂

Jan is the queen of this technique … it’s a faux torn paper technique, using torn paper as a mask to create that “ripped” effect with inks and stamps. I loved both of these examples, because they are similar (so easy to CASE) and because Jan has stepped up the second one every so slightly by adding those leaves and a popped up sentiment. My goal was to do a similar “stepped up” thing using the same technique as Jan has, but also including some actual torn paper! It didn’t quite go to plan!
Inspiring Imperfections Bundle …
Okay, so I have worked out that I am nowhere near as good at this torn paper masking thing as Jan is.
Also, I am asking you “this” or “that”, but I give you full permission to say “Nup, now way … I am just going to choose Jan’s examples if that’s alright”.
And maybe it was the stamp choice? I am on a mission to be more organised and plan out what products I will use each week. This week was Inspiring Imperfections … a very apt name for these projects, if not the perfect bundle for this technique.

I was trying to channel Jan’s elegant style so much … not sure what I was thinking, but I think I went awry in choosing coloured card to tear. For the Blue card, I did use the Blueberry Bushell from Jan’s card … and then some of the browns from her leaves, but adding in the Old Olive was a bit of a turn in the wrong direction I think. It looks a bit like an upside down landscape. I should have kept those torn layers light and gentle, like softly drifting, elegant clouds!

I thought that maybe, just maybe, I might redeem myself with the second card. Hmmm … I do like it better colour-wise, but how do you explain half a vase?? “Oh sorry … I accidentally ripped your card but am sending it to you anyway!! Just joking, it’s only faux ripped, so that makes it okay”.

Anyway, I could have just started again, but I am a little time poor this month, and so here they are …. as is, where is!
Once again Jan …. SORRY!!!! I really have not given your beautiful work a fair case’ing here.
This is the Around the World on Wednesday design team! I am very excited to see everyone’s projects this month and check out how we are all “This’ing” and “That’ing”, “Ripping and Tearing” … and “Case’ing” around the world.

Click through each team member’s blog for loads of inspiration ….
Next up we are are going to take a trip all the way across the ocean to Aurélie Fabre in France. That’s quite a hop … and I am so excited to see what Aurélie has created.
I am going to grab a cuppa and check out all the projects … and get prepared to be inspired “perfectly”. 🙂

No apology required, Cheryll! I like your idea of combining actual torn cardstock with a faux torn element. I don’t think you could go wrong with a card if you tried!
Hey Jan .. thank you for your understanding and lovely words. Stay tuned, never a bad card, just an opportunity to do better! 🙂 xx
Wauw, wauw, wauw….. These are A-MA-ZING!!!!! In combination with the teared cardstock. Love it! I think I have a slight soft spot for the orange version…. Love it!
Oh Danielle … you are too kind! 😉 Thank you. xxx
