Thoughtful Expressions – Birds, Blooms & Butterflies – Stamping Sunday
![]()
Thoughtful Expressions is a Cling Rubber Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!® … it’s an old favourite on the Last Chance List at 50% discount, and I am paying homage to this fabulous stamp set today for Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – Birds, Blooms and Butterflies.

I am creating today with all my favourite items on the Stampin’ Up!® Last Chance List … items that are only available while stock last. Once they are sold out, they will no longer be available. It’s always bitter sweet retiring off older favourites, to make room for exciting new product.
I created two cards, neither are “simple”, although the first is well within the range of a newish stamper. The second is a little more involved, but still quite achievable if you have the products and follow the steps one at a time.
Both feature the Thoughtful Expressions Stamp set, a gorgeous line art set with my fave hummingbird image, and gorgeous sketchy blooms. There is a set of dies that goes with this Stamp Set, but it has been retired for a long while so is no longer available (one of the biggest ??? moments recently, there must have been a reason for retiring the dies but not the Stamp Set) … so I have used the dies to cut out my bloomks and hummingbird. If you don’t have the dies, then fussy cutting is the order of the day with these projects.
Let’s start with casual card …

It’s a one layer card … almost unheard of for me … with some cloud masks and Pool Party ink blending to the front of the folded white card. The images are stamped and coloured with Stampin’ Blends, and the sentiment is from the Sketchy Butterflies stamp set (also on the last chance list), perfect for this fluttery hummingbird. There is a splatter of Wink of Stella and some scattered Brush Brass Butterflies. Don’t worry, both of these items are sticking around.

Now let’s look at the avid version …

This over the top card features water colouring on Fluid 100 watercolour paper, both in the background and on the blooms and hummingbird. Texture is added with some embossing paste through a stencil (Linked Together Decorative Masks … also on the Last Chance List). I added Wink of Stella to the embossing paste once dry and a splatter of Pool Party ink. There is paper tearing and the same Sketched Butterflies Sentiment and Brushed Brass Butterflies.

I am excited to see how the other designers interpreted the theme this month … flutter through the hop all the way through the entire blog hop list to check out all the creativity. I am off to check out all the amazing designer’s projects now … don’t forget to leave comments as you go. We love comments so we know you are out there and looking at our creations.
See you next month.
xx Cheryll

Beautiful projects Cheryll! Your coloring on both is fantastic. I’ll miss this great stamp set too. It’s fun to see projects with it again.
Thank you so much Tami! xx
