Penciled Pear – Simple & Sweet – Stamping Sunday
![]()
Penciled Pear is a Cling Rubber Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!® … another set that has been sadly overlooked on my stamp shelf. The theme for the Stamping Sunday blog hop today is “Simple & Sweet” so I thought this would be a great opportunity to ink up the Penciled Pear Stamp Set.

Simple, not so Simple, and outright not Simple …

I created three cards, starting with a simple version, then stepping up to a not so simple version and finally, I went all out and created my favourite type of project, over the top Avid Nut Case Stamper Style (ANCSS).
This is my favourite style of image, very sketch and a little bit arty … I have used one of the sentiments from the Penciled Pear Stamp Set and just taken off the last word (you), replacing it with “SWEET” die cut from the Mini Alphabet Dies.
Let’s start with the “simple” and sweet …

In all three cards, I have featured masking of the pear image, which allows me to add a background, in this instance ink blended with Lost Lagoon ink.
The pear has been coloured with Stampin’ Blends, so I stamped the image with Memento Black ink.
I also featured the Cute Crochet 3D Embossing Folder in all three cards, adding texture to the die cut letters. For this card, I also embossed the matting layer (white) to create some subtle texture behind the main panel.
I used the Adhesive-Backed Sequins Trio, which includes a pearly white sequin. I added some colour in Peach Pie Stampin’ Blend to co-ordinate with the Peach Pie letters and card base.

Next up is the “not so simple” version …

Again, I have featured masking of the pear image, and this time my background is both ink blending and a splatter image from the Elements of Text Stamp Set. (I may or may not have gone a little bit overboard with my splatter stamp).
The pear has again been coloured with Stampin’ Blends, and the white matting layer, embossed with the Cute Crochet 3D Embossing Folder has been coloured with an Ink Blending Brush and Peach Pie ink (I forgot to add it to the images here).

I did add some Lost Lagoon colour to the shadows in the Pear image with Stampin’ Blends.
The splatter has been stamped with a combination of Lost Lagoon ink and Pretty Peacock ink (stamped off).
Again the white sequins have been coloured with Stampin’ Blends … Pumpkin Pie for this card to co-ordinate with the Pumpkin Pie folded card and die cut letters.

And finally, my Avid Nutcase Crafter Card …
I changed the colouring medium on this one, electing to stamp onto Fluid 100 Water Colour Paper and watercolour with inks and my water brush.

This time I stamped onto Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper with Stazon Ink as it is a permanent ink and won’t run when I then colour the image using inks and a waterbrush.
Once the pear is masked, I added some shading with a blending brush, which creates a much more intense depth of colour than blending onto Basic White cardstock. Moody!!!!
I also splattered the image with Pretty Peacock ink and some white craft ink.
I distressed the edges and sponged some Lost Lagoon around the edges, and layered it up onto a piece of patterned paper from the Woven Textures Designer Series Paper (stunning paper … you really do need some of this in your life).
And this card has a little sneak peek of a new upcoming In Colour (available in May 2025) ….. Timid Tiger. It is a shade between Peach Pie and Pumpkin Pie.
