Beautiful Butterfly Monochrome Challenge … Around the World on Wednesday
![]()
Beautiful Butterflies Bundle … new product from the Jan-Apr 2025 Mini Catalogue … has been used for the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop for March, which is a Monochromatic Colour Challenge.

Welcome once again to Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop, travelling around the world through every time zone. You may be starting your trip Around the World here or you may have come from the blog of amazing artist Rochelle Laird-Smith. Always excited to see what Rochelle has created.
Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop is the brainchild of Angie McKenzie, a wonderful friend and amazing paper artist. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to be a part of this varied and talented group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators.
Monochromatic Colour Challenge…
This month our challenge was to choose two colours from the Stampin’ Up!® Colour Wheel and create a card using those colours. I chose Lemon Lime Twist and Soft Seafoam … not a colour combination I would have chosen normally. And apparently not next to each other on the Stampin’ Up! Colour Wheel. I have an older colour wheel and on mine those two colours are next to each other … that is my story and I am sticking to it.

Design Tips
* The butterfly is created by die cutting and embossing the large butterfly image from Fluid 100 Water Colour Paper, then watercolouring with Lemon Lime Twist and Soft Seafoam inks. Once dry, I tapped the Lemon Lime Twist ink pad lightly over the top of embossing to highlight the raised areas. Then I spread a little Embossing Paste onto the butterfly with a palette knife.
* The embossed background is also on Water Colour Paper, embossed with the Dashing Designs embossing folder and then watercoloured with same colours. Once dry, I spritzed with water, Pebbled Path ink and White Craft Ink.
* The blended background layer has been coloured with Blending Brushes and Lemon Lime Twist and Soft Seafoam inks, stamped with text images from the Elements of Text Stamp, distressed edges and then sponged with pebbled Path ink around those distressed edges.
* I die cut lots of different foliage from White card, Soft Seafoam card and Lemon Lime Twist card.
* This particular sentiment is from the Mixed Labels stamp set and dies, heat embossed with white powder onto Pebbled Path cardstock.
* And of course those delicious embellishments for the butterfly body .. these ones are from the Tinsel Gems Four Pack.
Here is a closer look at the embossing paste on the butterfly, it really tones down the bright green colouring. As does the lighter White and Soft Seafoam foliage die cuts tucked in behind the butterfly.
And how gorgeous are those gems!!!

If you are not a green girl, you will not be endeared to this card. I did create this card as my swap card for Onstage in many different monochromatic colour combinations, but (shhh) they aren’t quite finished at the time I am writing this.
I will post the pics after Onstage.

So what do you think? Too bright? I love all the texture and layers .. it is a bit of a labour of love, but I do enjoy creating this sort of card.
