Autumn Leaves – Rich Comforts and Rustic Elegance – Stamping Sunday

Loading

Autumn Leaves stamp set and die bundle has been used to create what is hopefully a Rustic Elegance for Stamping Sunday Blog Hop for October 2024

Joy Fold Card …

I have been creating a few projects lately using an old favourite fun fold, the Joy Fold Card. It is basically a standard Z fold card with an additional folded flap on the opposite side. It can be made in many different sizes and the additional flap can also be a variety of sizes. This time, I have created a square card with a smaller flap on the right hand side … not great for standing to display, but hey, you can’t have everything! 😉

Autumn Leaves Bundle …

The theme of the hop this month was Rich Comforts and Rustic Elegance. Now it is not Autumn here in the South Pacific … it is glorious Spring weather. However when I think of Rich Comforts and Rustic Elegance, what jumps to mind is deep Autumn/Winter tones, wrapping themselves around me in a warm hug. I pulled out some deep oranges and browns, along with a touch of gold for that Rustic Elegance … and I haven’t used the Autumn Leaves bundle for a while, so that happily found it’s way onto my craft desk. So all my Northern Hemisphere friends … this one’s for you!!

MATERIALS

An Autumn Leaf themed Stamp Set and Dies / Earth toned and Vanilla card stock / Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper / Inks in rich, earthy shades / Linen Thread / Gold Adhesive Gems

Autumn Leaves Joy Fold Card

I chose to cut my cardstock so that I was just using one sheet of Early Espresso for both the Z Fold base and the additional Joy Fold Flap, possibly not the best Idea if you want to have this card stand up. I did manage to get it to stand for a photo, but that front flap was very joyous and kept waving around everywhere like a drunken sailor, threatening to topple over. It also didn’t help that I must have been under the influence myself when I adhered the Deckled Circles to the front flap as they are not even close to being centred, so it is a little bottom heavy (not dissimilar to myself).

The layers are Basic Beige and panels of the Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper in Basic Beige and Gold … I used the “duller” side with no gold so that the gold panels I did use on the front would “pop”. The Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series paper comes in combinations of Beiges, Reds, Greens and Teal with Gold.
They are all lovely, but the beige has the added bonus of being able to be coloured with deeper colours. So I coloured a panel with Copper Clay and another with Early Espresso to use on the front of my card. Can you see them peeking out from behind the leaves? They really added an extra oomph to showcase the Autumn Leaves.

Here is the card with the front flap opened. I chose to decorate this flap on the inside, but you don’t need to. I have used some more of that Basic Beige Specialty Paper, and this time applied Cajun Craze ink to the die cut panel.

Once fully opened, there is a panel for writing a sentiment and some more panels you could decorate if you wanted to. I thought I had quite a bit going on already, so left the artsy looking paper to do it’s own thing.

The leaves in this stamp set are perfect for multi colouring by inking in one colour and then adding a second colour with a sponge dauber to the stamp before stamping the image. The veins are a separate stamp and the leaves absolutely come alive once they are stamped over the top (two step stamping).

Two shades of Linen Thread, natural and Copper Clay make for a rich and effusive, but also rustic bow, and the Metallic Adhesive Gems in Gold continue the little touch of luxury.

I am excited to see how the other designers interpreted this theme … hop on over to to the amazing Tami Hewlett’s Blog first, then follow the hop all the way through the entire blog hop list. I know you will be thrilled by the creativity. I am off to check out all the amazing designer’s projects now … don’t forget to leave comments as you go. We love comments so we know you are out there and looking at our creations.

See you next month.
