Gears and Textures – CASeing the Catalogue Around the World on Wednesday

Loading

Gears and Textures Bundle is a firm favourite from the Stampin’ Up!® Jan-Apr 2026 Mini Catalogue, and used here for the Around the World on Wednesday February Blog Hop.

Welcome once again to Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop, travelling around the world through every time zone. You may be starting your trip Around the World here or you may have come from the blog of amazing artist Rochelle Laird-Smith. Always excited to see what Rochelle has created.

Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop is the brainchild of Angie McKenzie, a wonderful friend and amazing paper artist. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to be a part of this varied and talented group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators.

CASe’ing the Catalogue, and Teri West …

Today’s project is a little mix of industrial texture, layered detail and a little pop of love, seeing as we are so close to Valentine’s Day.

This card was inspired by two fabulous sources. In celebration of our 5th year, the AWOW team are continuing a year long mission of CASe’ing our fellow team members. This month, we are CASe’ing the incredibly talented Teri West whose work always balances detail and design so beautifully. And a double whammy, we are also CASe’ing a project from the latest Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalogue.

I didn’t have to go far when looking through Teri’s Instagram and blog to find a project that jumped out at me. This pink number is not fussy, but full of detail. And I love the Gears & Textures stamp set and die bundle and have been wanting to create a Valentine’s card for my hubby using this set so I chose my favourite project shown in the Mini Catalogue to CASe. It was a challenge to combine Teri’s simple and adorable Valentine themed project with the very busy project from the catalogue, but the plus is that they are both very elegant.

Gears & Textures Bundle …

Having said that, my card is not elegant. I used totally different colours …. Azure Afternoon, Smoky Slate and Real Red, with just a touch of Secret Sea.

The star of the show here is definitely that layered gear cluster, but those two hanging lights? They bring this whole project to life (with just the flick of a switch! lol) . Truth be told, Azure Afternoon ink pad was on my desk from another project (a colour challenge) and some class cards, and I don’t know why I don’t use it more often. It’s a very bright and clean colour. the grey brings in the “industrial” element of Gears and Textures and then I needed red for the hearts. It’s a great pop of colour, especially with the Secret Sea sentiment piece, but it needed a little more red to tie the whole thing together. Those extra pieces hanging out from below the sentiment were just the little touch this project needed.

From Teri’s card, I took the white strips of card with texture added in the background. I used the Exposed Brick Embossing Folder for the rough, workshop-wall feel. Terri’s card uses a heart shaped window … I used the Everyday Arches Dies and some of the Brights Patterned 6″ x 6″ DSP with a grungy type feel. To me it feels like you are looking through an old work shop window to a scene illuminated by the two lights. I kept the stamping inside the window softer (like on the sample card from the catalogue) so as not to compete with the feature gears.

Gears and Textures Bundle

I definitely took the lights from the card in the catalogue, and I love the unexpectedness of the flowers in that sample card. My “unexpectedness” is the red hearts. Like the card in the catalogue, it pairs a softer and more feminine element with the industrial/masculine feel of the gears.

And then… the sentiment strip (Stylish Shapes Dies) is in Secret Sea with white heat embossing has also been taken from the catalogue card. It anchors all the gears and gives a solid background to adhere those adorable little red hearts (from the Sunshine Vibes Dies).

Gears and TExtures Bundle

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you love texture, layers and designs that can be anything from masculine to delightfully whimsical with unexpected pairings, then the Gears and Textures Bundle would be a great addition to your stamping line up.

This is the Around the World on Wednesday design team! I am very excited to see everyone’s projects this month and check out how we are all “Case’ing” around the world.

  1. Stunning – Texture for days! I love how you have taken inspiration from Teri’s card to create those panels. All that stamping in the background is beautiful – you are the queen of collage. xx
