Layers of Love for our new Stamping Station gang …

Layers of Love is the theme of our first blog and instahop for the new Stamping Station creative team, a merge of the Stamping Sunday design team and the Creation Station design team. We will be here every third Sunday of the month, bringing you loads of creative inspiration.

`I have been having a Gears & Textures combined with Sunshine Vibes sort of week … and so this project again combines these two great bundles, but in a grungy, collage layered style, with just a little pop of love with those tiny and vibrant Real Red hearts!

Gears & Textures, combined with Sunshine Vibes …

Can you tell … I am absolutely loving the Gears & Textures bundle. I have used it with different colours, created in very different styles and combined it with many other Stampin’ Up! products.

Today, I have created layers stamped with images from both the Gears & Textures stamp set and the Sunshine Vibes stamp set. It was so good to get ink blending with the neutrals and great some serious grunge, complete with paper tearing and distressing edges. Throw in some of the die cut gears and a few little Real Red hearts (Sunshine Vibes dies) for a pop of colour, and I am loving the end result.

Here is my step by step process:

• The card base is Early Espresso … a standard C6 (or A2 Card in Imperial), folded and portrait mode.
• The back layer is Smoky Slate card … 10 cm x 14.3 cm (4″ x 5-1/4″), which has been stamped with various textural and gear elements from Gears and Textures using Smoky Slate ink. Stamp some at full strength and some “stamped off”. Ink blend the edges with Early Espresso ink.
• Cut a series of layers, doesn’t really matter what size, they can be grouped how they best fit.
  – Layer 1 is Smoky Slate card, die cut with a die from Perennial Postage dies and stamped with Gears & Textures images and Elements of Text in Early Espresso (I stamped all of these off for a light look). Again the edges are inked with Early Espresso ink, quite heavily so it stands out from the background.
  – Layer 2 is Designer Series Paper from Country Woods DSP, cut to fit across the page and torn top and bottom to expose the white fluffy edge. I have inked over the white edge with Early Espresso ink to tone down the whiteness.
  – Layer 3 is Very Vanilla card stock. I have stamped a variety of the Gears and Textures images with a combination of Early Espresso and Smoky Slate ink … remember stamp most of these images off so they sit nicely in the background. The edges have been inked with Early Espresso and distressed with Paper Snips.
  – Layer 4 is the focal layer, die cut from Basic Beige card using Stylish Shapes square dies. I absolutely love that half sun image from Sunshine Vibes and it has been “stamped off” with Early Espresso ink. Some other Gears and Textures and Elements of Text images are stamped with Smoky Slate, and this square has been ink blended around the edges with Smoky Slate ink.
• All the layers are flat, except for the central focal layer, which has been popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the gears and hearts:

• I die cut a selection of gears from Gears & Textures using Smoky Slate, Early Espresso and Real Red and inked some before layering up.
• The sentiment is from Words of Beauty stamp set and has been cut with a co-ordinating die from the same bundle, white embossed onto Early Espresso Card.
• And then those gorgeous little Real Red hearts are from the Sunshine Vibes dies.
• Further pops of red are added by colouring up adhesive embellishments from the Neutral Matte Dots.

Assemble the card:

• Adhere the Smoky Slate layer to the card base.
• Adhere the collaged labels to card and adhere the focal square using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
• Adhere the die cut gears with a combination of glue dots and Stampin Dimensionals.
• Adhere the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
• Adhere the adhesive embellishments.
