Birds Eye View – the cutest bird ever!

Loading

Birds Eye View Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!® is a recently retired stamp set … while I don’t normally post projects created with retired products, I had this one on my shelf and really wanted to play with it. We created these cards in my card class last week … I hold classes in my stamping studio with a marvellous bunch of ladies.

Birds Eye View …

So yes, this is a retired stamp set, but I am sure there are many of you out there who have this set (or a similar set with a cute bird image). I like to think that when you purchase a stamp set or bundle, that you will continue to use it for years to come, even after it is no longer available in the Stampin’ Up! store.

This stamp set does have a branch and leaf image to perch your choice of bird on … but I also found some chipboard branch pieces in my stash of crafting bits and bobs and had enough for my class card kits, so used those.

This little bird (owl?) is just so cute. He has been stamped with Memento black ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. There are no dies for this one, so he is fussy cut. His classes are so adorable and although they need to be fussy cut also, the circle in the centre has been cut using the Perennial Postage dies. There is a little die to create hole reinforcements and that works really well. But there would be umpteen small circle dies which would do the same job.

We used some of the new Two Toned cardstock in Pool Party for the background layer, embossed with the Birch Wood 3d Embossing Folder, and then sanded show the white centre in the paper shows through.

The colours used are Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock, and the Designer Series Paper is the Everyday Happiness 12″ x 12″ pack.

When it came to the sentiment, I wanted one that suited this image and remembered another very old retired stamp set called Hello Love. Who remembers this one? It was a favourite of mine so has remained in my stash and I pulled it out to use the “A Little Birdie Told Me” sentiment. The ladies had a choice of various co-ordinating sentiments to go on the inside of the card, or add your own to suit the occasion.

Another version …

Slightly different layout and bird, but still ever so cute!!
