Creating Kindness Design Team Blog Hop – November – Gifts
Poinsettia Petals is my featured bundle for this gift giving extravaganza!
Welcome to the Creating Kindness Design Team Blog Hop for November 2020. My name is Cheryll Miller, and I am so delighted to hop with this fabulous group of artists each month. The theme for November is “Gift Giving”.
Our guest designer this month is the amazing Jo Blackman. Make sure you check out her blog for some wonderful inspiration.
Gift Giving … ready made!
I am such a disorganised person! Every year I have all these great ideas for gift giving in the festive season. I go on a baking frenzy in the week leading up to Christmas …. and then once all the treats are made … I end up giving them out in daggy plastic bags. Despite all best intentions, I dont’ get my gift packaging ready!!
This year will be different! Well for two people at least! 😉
Poinsettia Petals …
I NEVER create decorated gift boxes … I am so much a card girl! So this blog hop was a real delight for me! I basically created a card on top of a box. And had the happy experience of not having to worry … “will this fit in an envelope?”!!!
Be warned, I have used a &^#$ -load of dimensionals in this “box front”. The poinsettia flowers and the holly leaves are “rounded” with my Bone Folder, and then I applied not one, but two stacked dimensionals behind the petals and leaves.
For the larger box, I used the Mini Paper Pumpkin Box and for the smaller box, I used the Gold Mini Pizza Box. These boxes come pre cut and pre folded and all you have to do is fold along the score lines and then decorate to your heart’s content.
Here is a top view of the Mini Paper Pumpkin Box …. this would be so easy to make into a very special Christmas Card (minus the box).
Messy, glittery …. and gorgeous!
I will say (with full disclosure) that I created the Poinsettia flowers a full day ahead. I stamped the poinsettia flowers with Black Memento ink onto Real Red cardstock. After die cutting, I applied the Shimmery Crystal Effects in a haphazard manner onto the petals. Then set aside to dry for 24 hours.
My hand was totally aching after squeezing that Shimmery Crystal Effects to all these petals, but so worth it. The whole box top shimmers!!!
