Introducing Wendy Harm ….

* 2 sheets watercolour paper die cuts with clear UV prints for watercolouring: poppies and leaves

Wendy’s first card takes advantage of the pre-coloured die-cut Poppy elements and is a “look Mum, no stamping” project. She has used the Basket Weave embossing folder for the background layer. This particular folder is retiring with the Annual Catalogue and is sold out …. a popular one. However any embossing folder will work. The Basic Black circular element and strip across the card are both pre-cut, ready to pop out elements from this set of products, as are the gorgeously coloured poppies and the vellum leaves.
Wendy has added a circle die-cut from Real Red cardstock from the soon to be retiring Stitched Labels Dies (get them before they go), and a Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon feature to complete this crisp and elegant card.
Staying with the crisp white theme, Wendy has created a feature panel with multiples of the pre-coloured, laser cut pop out Poppy elements from the pack. Introducing some stamping into this card, the stamped textural images along the top and bottom of the card are a great addition, picking up on the green colouring in the matting layer. A white embossed greeting on black card stock really pops … that is a Stitched Nested label die. And this time that fabulous Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon is adhered behind the greeting piece.
For this card Wendy has utilised the pre-coloured, pop-out poppy element as a feature on her card, layered up on another of the black, circular elements. These Basic Black elements feature shiny, embossed patterns. Added in behind the feature piece are gorgeous vellum elements from the kit, they already have the white design embossed onto them. So easy.
Wendy’s background elements are a rectangle die cut from the Stitched Rectangle Dies in Poppy Parade cardstock. Now currently, these dies are showing as “sold out” so you won’t find them to purchase right at the moment. But don’t worry, they will be back with a new item code number in the new Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue on 3rd June (151820). The Designer Series Paper is from the fabulous Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper 12″ x 12″ pack. This patterned paper is sadly retiring on 2nd June and is flying off the shelves as many of us are just not ready to let it go.
The ribbons are the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding, died with either ink refills or Stampin’ Blends in colours to co-ordinate with Wendy’s project. And the white embossed greeting on black cardstock finishes off this lovely card wonderfully.
A horizontal layout, again featuring those fabulous pre-coloured Poppy elements. How fabulous to have these on hand to whip out and quickly put together cards in a flash. They are paired with one of the beautiful stitched, detailed dies from the retiring Stitched Labels dies, one of my favourites which will be sadly missed. The Basic Black banner is also in the Peaceful Poppies Elements set, and Wendy has white embossed her greeting onto the label.
Wendy’s background showcases the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper perfectly, with strips adhered over a Basic Black cardstock layer, and a little touch of the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding. This amazingly versatile ribbon is continuing over into the new Annual Catalogue … yay!!
Staying on the same theme, utilising the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper in her layered backgrounds, Wendy has chosen the single stemmed poppies this time as her feature. One is a pre-coloured laser cut element, along with the same image in Vellum with the white embossed look. The Vellum elements in the kit are also laser cut so very easy to use.
Another of the black banners from the Elements pack, onto which Wendy has white embossed a greeting, carries through the dramatic effect of the black matting layers. And of course, that amazing Whisper White Crinkle Cut Seam Binding Ribbon …. it just goes with everything.
Peaceful Poppies Elements WOW!!
WOW!! … check out this gorgeous card. Here Wendy has taken a total deviation from the whole red and black colouring featured in the Peaceful Poppies Elements set. She has coloured up the watercolour paper poppies from the Elements pack, which conveniently have a pre-embossed outline as well as being laser cut “pop out” pieces. The colouring looks like Blackberry Bliss, which softens greatly when watercoloured. Wendy has also watercoloured some of the leaf images with Old Olive and created a fabulous collage for her feature piece including the watercolour poppies and leaves, plus some die cut foliage in Old Olive, Whisper White and Silver Glimmer Paper. The addition of an exuberant double bow in the White Crinkle Seam Binding ribbon is perfect.
The stunning floral feature is then layered up over that amazing background created by applying ink inside the Tin Tile 3D embossing folder before embossing Whisper White cardstock. I love this Shabby Chic type look, and the richness of the colours is very appealing.
Wendy’s great sense of colour is highlighted with her choice of background layers. Blackberry Bliss and Silver Foil layers on Whisper White create an appropriate sense of drama for the beautiful feature colours. It gives a look of a shadow box, a real trick for the eye. And did you notice those little corner elements where the darker colour peaks through? Those are created with the Detailed Trio Punch, which is carrying over into the new Annual Catalogue.
