A Best CASE Scenario
I have been featuring the Eastern Palace Suite of products this month, while the two great Eastern Palace bundles are available during May.
When creating projects, I draw inspiration from many different places … the card I featured on my VIP Facebook page live video a week or so ago is a result of CASE’ing a couple of talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.
In turn, a couple of my talented team members have CASE’d this card … it is such a great honour when anyone draws inspiration from your project! This post features the beautiful cards created by Colleen Johnson and Wendy Harm.
But first, let’s explore where I drew my inspiration from …. firstly the Global Design Project Challenge this week is CASE’ing the talented designer, Shawn Oliveira. Here is Shawn’s card.
And here is mine ….
I have chosen to case the layout of Shawn’s card and the floral theme, and have come up with something totally different. I have used one of the dies from Eastern Medallions Thinlit Dies as my floral feature, snipping it out of the card at the connecting points releases the die cut shape to create a floral type feature.
The colours are drawn from the Eastern Palace Suite itself, Dapper Denim and Gold. The gold embossing on the watercolour background and the floral medallion is inspired by a project from Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Member, Aurélie Fabre.
Some Gold Foil card behind the die cut floral medallion and a little bit of Gold Ribbon finishes off the project.
I created this card on a facebook live presentation on my Sense of Whimsy VIP page and two of my team members CASE’d the card. Look how wonderfully different their gorgeous projects are.
Wendy Harm used the Swirly Bird Stamp set and Dies to re-create my card … showing how by changing up the stamp set allows you to utilise what you have on hand to create a similar card. I love this and you can check out Wendy’s work by clicking on the image or here.
Colleen Johnson has CASE’d Wendy’s card using the Swirly Bird stamp set and dies, but changing up the colours to yellows and greens. And Colleen has included a sneak peak of some new product coming up in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue …. the Daily Delight Stamp Set and Daisy Punch. Colleen has embossed her gold highlights in the background onto vellum before layering over some designer series paper, which is from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper set, also coming out in the new catalogue. Check out more of Colleen’s work on her blog here.
It sparks my creative whimsy to see Shawn’s beautiful rose card above ending up at Colleen’s gorgeous card above …. with twists and turns along the way. It is a little bit like the game we played as kids “Chinese Whispers”.
Check out all the great variations on Shawn’s card in the Global Design Project Challenge Gallery this week.
And of course it is only FOUR MORE DAYS until the new Stampin’ Up Annual Catalogue goes live.
